Job Summary:

The Adolescent Development and Preventive Treatment (ADAPT) lab is located on the Evanston campus and is a research program that evaluates adolescents and young adults who are experiencing unusual thoughts or perceptions, as well as changes in social and academic or career performance.

This position is a one-year term, full-time position at 37.5 hours per week and works on-site five days per week, no remote work. The expected pay for this position is $18.00 per hour, which is $35,235 per year in alignment with departmental equity and market data.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Technical: Responsible for recruiting study participants; obtaining informed consent; scheduling and conducting screening interviews; scoring test results; collaborating with nurses and physicians to determine pretreatment and protocol eligibility requirements from initial screening through participant registration; escorting participants to imaging facilities and overseeing research protocol administration; preparing and organizing lab meeting agendas; and facilitating communication with key personnel and participants to ensure efficient study flow.
  • Administration: Maintains detailed research records, including collecting, extracting, and entering data and preparing basic charts and graphs; conducts scientific literature searches to support research activities; and assists in completing portions of grant applications and regulatory documents in accordance with local, state, and federal guidelines and research protocols.
  • Financial: May process travel reimbursements; monitor and distribute petty cash; process invoices and create purchase requisitions; and coordinate fund distribution among multiple sponsors and clinical sites.
  • May train other research staff to interview/test participants.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree in a major such as social or health science or related: OR appropriate combination of education and experience.

  • Prior applicable experience in working or volunteering in a research setting.

  • Must complete NU's IRB CITI training before interacting with any participants & must re-certify every 3 years

  • Previous research experience

  • Experience with one or more of the following: neuroimaging studies, psychophysiology studies, eye tracking studies, hormone studies, blood draws, exercise studies, screener development (psychometrics), data science, coding.
