Job Summary Provide leadership and direction to the Field Engineering staff in line with the organizations vision, mission and values. Develops engineering plans to achieve state-level short term and long range goals. Ensure completion of goals and objectives by:
Providing guidance and support to engineering staff to ensure professional development.
Building and developing strategic internal/external relationships.
Facilitating and encouraging the improvement of existing engineering processes, policies and procedures while consistently looking for a better way
Monitoring, evaluating and advancing the performance of the Field Engineering staff.
Overseeing the development of the capital programs.
Collaborating with peers across NiSource to ensure effective engineering solutions.
Essential Functions
- Leads diverse team of qualified individuals with authority to hire, terminate, promote, demote, coach, develop and performance manage
- Establishes implementation plans for Field Engineering objectives and goals that align with the organizations vision, mission and values
- Identifies areas for departmental improvements and develops plans to achieve them
- Develop methods to measure the performance of the engineering department that are linked with NiSource business goals
- Develop strategic long-range facility plans
- Ensure strong strategic internal/external partnerships
- Implement effective improvements for existing engineering policies, procedures, and practices
- Develop and execute annual program, meeting annual capital and O&M budget goals that drives value to our customers
- Utilize meaningful metrics to drive performance and ensure accountability
- Continued and progressive development of engineering leadership team
- Cultivate positive relationships with federal, state and municipal agencies
- Lead and promote priorities, programs and projects to safely and reliably deliver service to all of our customers
- Required Qualifications For Position
- Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering curriculum from an accredited college or university
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in utility engineering or related technical field
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities in engineering, construction or operations
- Demonstrated knowledge of engineering principles, system design and budget management
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience with system operations, construction activities, and emergency response
- Knowledge of company policies and procedures relative to engineering and operations
- Knowledge of applicable codes and compliance issues
- Familiarity with common computer applications
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Familiarity with company budgeting processes and systems
- Demonstrated competency in budget origination, management and forecasting
- DL NUMBER - Driver License, Valid and in State
- Preferred Additional Qualifications for Position
- Post graduate degree
- Three years of successful experience in an engineering leadership role
- Three years of successful experience in and construction or operations leadership role
- Professional Engineer (PE) License preferably in the state(s) of leadership duties

Salary Range*: $133,400.00 - $200,100.00
*The salary offered to a candidate is based on several factors including but not limited to the candidate's skills, job-related knowledge, and relevant experience, as well as internal pay equity. Posting Start Date: 2026-04-09
