We are looking for a creative and self-motivated Proposal Coordinator with an eye for detail, artistic design, and a talent for captivating writing. As a member of Ames' growing Pursuits and Preconstruction Group, you will support the Alternative Delivery Managers and Proposal Managers during the pursuit of heavy civil infrastructure projects across transportation, federal, and water resources markets. Key Duties and Responsibilities: Pursuit-focused:
Maintain knowledge of company values Support proposal managers during the qualification, proposal, and interview processes Participate in formalized win strategy sessions Populate and maintain pursuit-specific tools such as the compliance matrix, style guides, and agendas Provide input on document layout concept/strategy Gather and organize company, project (for project profiles/contractor capabilities), and key personnel information (project management/resumes) from regional and corporate platforms; lead early draft development of these non-technical sections Collaborate with proposal managers on section storyboarding/annotated outlines Compile/lead writing and support documentation for technical sections based on interviews with engineers, subject matter experts, estimators, and managers Copy edit proposal sections for style/grammar, comprehension, and 'one voice' and messaging Develop organizational charts, flow charts, and graphics to support proposal sections Assist in the assembly of document components for color reviews and closeout Record feedback during color reviews to support document recovery Coordinate commercial deliverables with regional and corporate departments Assist development and implementation of proposal production plans
Department-focused:
Participate in de-construct of SOQ/proposal information for archival/future use Ability to develop opportunity-specific or general company marketing/outreach materials Ability to coordinate project video shoots Ability to coordinate with production vendors as necessary Participate in project visits Support estimating department during response to prequalification requests Support Coessential/CRM activities
Other duties as assigned. Experience, Education & Skills
Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Business Management, Communications, Journalism or a related field preferred 3+ years of experience in the AEC industry with information gathering, persuasive writing, and copy editing Talent for tailoring resumes and project experience to specific opportunities Proven ability to work professionally and efficiently under pressure Strong time management and task prioritization skills to meet internal and external deadlines Intermediate acumen withAdobe Creative Suite, particularly InDesign (Illustrator and Photoshop a plus)
Preferred:
Comfort level using cloud-based and virtual platforms to collaborate during pursuits Ability to perform discovery and recovery interviews with technical professionals to 'get the story'; this requires a comfort level with asking clarifications, follow-up questions, and steering the conversation to gather inputs needed for section development Demonstrated persuasive writing and basic graphic design experience, such as info-graphics, flow charts, organizational charts Ability to lead small SOQ and prequalification documents on your own with accuracy and attention to detail Comfort level coordinating with 3rd party consultants for writing, editing, 2D and 3D support as needed

Base salary range is $60,000-$100,000 a year, which varies depending on many factors, including relevant experience, skills, and knowledge.
