The Staff Counsel, eDiscovery Services provides review services in dispute and regulatory matters under the direction of Norton Rose Fulbright (NRF) lawyers, including QC, key document summaries, issues analysis, chronologies and privilege log creation.

The Staff Counsel Team Lead provides review services and will support the Senior Manager, eDiscovery Review Services, in administrative functions and oversight duties of review projects assigned to the staff counsel team. This strategic role will assist the Senior Manager to coordinate communications between NRF lawyers and the third party contract review lawyers on active review projects as appropriate.

The Staff Counsel Team Lead will report to the Senior Manager, Document Review Services.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Team Lead

  • Assist Senior Manager in support of document review projects from kickoff to close out
  • Provide training and oversight to Staff Counsel on review duties, responsibilities and deliverables
  • Work with Senior Manager to assess productivity and utilization for effective resource management of the staff counsel team
  • Coordinate with project managers on the status or document review batching strategy, metrics reporting and platform issues as appropriate
  • Assess individual contract reviewers' across all projects to ensure maximum productivity and accuracy
  • Coordinate with staffing vendors to staff and launch review projects; including review of contact attorney resumes, schedule training and feedback calls
  • Provide guidance to staff counsel on remediation and other review workflows to maintain review performance quality and uniformity
  • Become an SME on Reveal and provide platform training to contract attorneys, as required

Review

  • Review, analyze and code documents for responsiveness, redaction, confidentiality, issues and privilege
  • Participate in initial review trainings and team meetings
  • Conduct quality control review of document coding and redactions for accuracy
  • Coordinate, monitor and quality check the work performed by the first level reviewers
  • Responsible for identifying, escalating and tracking questions and issues to NRF lawyers and practice support team
  • Assist NRF lawyers to prepare and QC privilege log for production
  • Perform review and analysis of contracts and agreements in due diligence projects

This position is full-time remote and can therefore be located in any city where we have a US office. Flexibility to come to the office for trainings or meetings is required.

Qualifications and experience
  • Juris Doctor degree from an ABA accredited institution
  • Licensed and in good standing to practice in state of employment i.e. Texas, Minnesota or Missouri
  • Minimum 5 years of document review experience preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of review management experience preferred
  • Strong grasp and knowledge of document review platforms
  • Excellent analytical, problem identification and resolution skills
  • Superior attention to detail
  • Proven and demonstrable dedication to work product quality
  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively under rigorous deadlines
  • Thorough understanding of attorney-client and attorney work product privilege
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with project managers, lawyers and other document review attorneys
  • Ability to work both as part of team and independently with appropriate supervision
  • Willingness to provide after hours, overtime and weekend support as necessary
