Description

The Undersea Systems Division at Leidos currently has an opening for a Senior Systems Engineer to work at a customer site in Panama City Beach, FL. This is an exciting opportunity to leverage your extensive experience in maritime systems, diving equipment, and complex ship systems to support the development and integration of advanced undersea technologies. You will work on mission-critical programs that demand rigorous engineering discipline and innovation, directly supporting U.S. maritime dominance and national security.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead system architecture, analysis, integration, and verification activities across the program lifecycle for underwater vehicles and unattended sensor systems.
  • Develop and maintain system-level architectures, interfaces, and design artifacts for complex maritime systems.
  • Oversee TEMPALT development, ATO packages, and system safety analyses, coordinating with program, cybersecurity, and safety stakeholders.
  • Develop comprehensive system-level test strategies and plans, coordinating verification and validation activities across multiple teams and test venues.
  • Provide Technical Data Package oversight, ensuring technical integrity, configuration control, and compliance with contractual and program requirements.
  • Perform and review reliability and safety analyses, including FMEA and FMECA, with a focus on maritime and diving equipment.
  • Apply Model-Based Systems Engineering practices to support requirements, architecture, and traceability for underwater systems.
  • Collaborate across disciplines to integrate hardware, software, and control systems into cohesive maritime system solutions.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to mid-level and junior systems engineers, leveraging your extensive experience in naval systems.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Ocean Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field. Advanced degrees (MS, Engineer's Degree) strongly preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience with maritime systems, including underwater vehicles, diving equipment, and ship systems.
  • Strong background in DoD acquisition, systems engineering, and test & evaluation of maritime technologies.
  • Active TS/SCI clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA), Naval Special Warfare (NSW), and SOCOM/PEO-Maritime programs.
  • Hands-on experience with ROVs, AUVs, and various diving modes and apparatus.
  • Knowledge of shipboard communications, IT systems, and combat control systems.
  • Background in unmanned vehicle control systems and innovative propulsion technologies.
