Are you a motivated Social Work professional? New Hanover County is seeking a dedicated and experienced Social Worker to join the Senior Resource Center Life Enrichment Program (LEP) team. The SRC Life Enrichment Program provides quality and responsive social services to older adults and their caregivers. Our goal is to promote appropriate support for the social, physical, economic, and emotional well-being of older adults, while encouraging maximum independence and improving quality of life. The position requires conducting assessment evaluations and providing resource assistance with clients in their homes or in County facilities.
Responsibilities for this role include:
- Conducts ongoing case monitoring and evaluation, including assessments, care plan development, and regular evaluations to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Performs home visits to monitor client progress, address concerns, and identifies potential risks such as abuse, neglect, or exploitation
- Maintains accurate and timely documentation of client interactions, assessments, and service plans
- Coordinates social services across multiple agencies by making appropriate referrals and collaborating with community partners
- Provides Options Counseling services, a decision-support process that includes listening to preferences, discussing options, supporting informed decision-making, connecting individuals to services, and following up. Options Counseling uses person-centered practices to support informed long-term service decisions.
- Engages in professional development through training, workshops, and required certifications
- Advocates for clients by fostering positive relationships with service providers, landlords, healthcare professionals, and community organizations
- Utilizes technology effectively while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment focused on quality and service.
- Performs work with regular and predictable attendance, consistently meeting the scheduling needs of the position as required by the county.
- Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
- Performs work during emergency/disaster situations.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of principles of social work, social service agencies, and practices. Strong knowledge of community resources and preparation of written reports. Strong communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with clients, co-workers, and public to convey information and receive work direction. Knowledge of identifying and investigating abuse, neglect, or exploitation, including local and state protective services statutes.
Hours:
8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday.
Must be available to report for emergency work assignment during emergency situations.
Employment Type: Full-time, non-exempt
Salary Information:
The
hiring range
for this position is
$60,943 - $80,764.50
.
plus a competitive benefits package.
Salary will be determined based on qualifications, internal equity, budget, and market considerations

Bilingual candidates are eligible for a differential (5%) when performing Spanish language interpretation during the course of work.

Qualifications
-
Required Education and Experience:
- MSW from an accredited school;
OR BSW from an accredited school of social work and 1 year of related social work experience; OR a four-year degree in a human services field with at least 15 semester hours in courses related to social work and 2 years of related social work experience; OR a four-year degree and 3 years of related social work experience. - Bilingual in English and Spanish strongly preferred.

Licenses/Certifications

- Valid Driver's License (from any state) and good driving record required at time of application.
- Valid North Carolina Driver's License required by first date of employment with good driving record.
