The Support Services Business Unit is seeking a Senior Project Accountant to oversee our Puget Sound Project Accounting team and support the Puget Sound Region with monthly billings. This hybrid-friendly position is located in either Bellevue, WA, Tacoma, WA, or Portland, OR.

Under limited supervision, responsibilities will require the ability to resolve issues of varying complexity by exercising independent judgment. This role requires excellent written and verbal communication, attention to detail, ability to meet deadlines, and exceptional client service skills.

What You'll Do Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure accurate, complete, and timely data entry

  • Initiate contract and project setup reviews

  • Coordinate with project managers and project coordinators on project billings

  • Perform quality control reviews of others' work to ensure compliance with policies and contracts

  • Support reconciliation of project and accounting accounts

  • Monitor and adhere to established accounting deadlines

  • Prepare, balance, and file certified payroll and prevailing wage documentation

  • Oversee the Puget Sound Project Accounting team

  • Deliver team training to ensure adherence to proper cost accounting rules

  • Ensure FAR compliance related to cost accounting and revenue recognition

  • Advise on project setups, invoicing, and project budgeting practices

  • Mentor team members by developing robust Success Plans, monitoring progress, and providing leadership and coaching

  • Conduct performance appraisals for direct reports

  • Strengthen and maintain effective working relationships between the Project Coordinator and Project Accounting teams

What You Bring Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance, or nine (9) or more years of job cost accounting experience

  • Strong computer proficiency, including advanced Microsoft Excel skills with the ability to use formulas, and experience with the Microsoft Office Suite

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Minimum of three (3) years of supervisory or people management experience

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics SL and Concur

  • Experience with prevailing wage or certified payroll requirements
