Location

This is a hybrid (virtual/onsite) position with required onsite days on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday assigned to One Energy Plaza located in Jackson, MI. The selected candidate must be within a commutable distance or willing to relocate (relocation package is available for those that qualify).

General Summary of Job Responsibilities

The Senior Technical Accounting & Financial Reporting Analyst prepares and reviews research, provides guidance on complex accounting matters, and collaborates with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate transaction treatment. This position also monitors new and evolving accounting standards and assesses their impact on financial reporting. The Senior Financial Reporting Analyst prepares and reviews financial statement disclosures in accordance with regulatory requirements and organizational policies, ensuring the integrity and accuracy of reported financial information.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities




  • Research moderately complex technical accounting issues with minimal supervision or support. Document and support accounting conclusions in various formats (from emails to formal accounting position papers).
  • Provide accounting consultation and advice to cross-functional internal partners in support of strategic business and development transactions, with minimal supervision required. Serve as a co-owner of cross-functional relationships alongside the supervisor.
  • Evaluate basic to moderately complex contracts for accounting issues and document conclusions, with minimal supervision or support required.
  • Monitor new and emerging accounting standards. Evaluate and communicate the potential impacts of new accounting standards, with supervision and support, collaborating with other departments as needed. Develop implementation plans for basic to moderately complex accounting standards.
  • Prepare subject matter-specific reporting documents to meet the compliance and/or control needs of business stakeholders (e.g., debt compliance certificates, debt covenant calculations, dividend calculations, legal reports, and other government reports), requiring minimal supervision or support.
  • Coordinate, prepare, and review sections of quarterly and annual SEC filings, including writing and reviewing disclosures, as well as obtaining, analyzing, documenting, and reviewing supporting financial data for disclosures.
  • Provide significant input to monthly and quarterly internal reports and analyses.
  • Other duties as assigned or as necessary.



Knowledge, Skills and Abilities




  • Demonstrated knowledge of accounting principles, with experience applying them to complex transactions.
  • Strong critical thinking skills, including ability to apply knowledge learned on one transaction to a new and different transaction
  • Proficient in using financial reporting software and accounting research tools.
  • Skilled in the Microsoft Office suite, Adobe applications, and other general software products.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.



Education and Experience




  • Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, accounting, or related field with a minimum of four (4) years of experience in an advanced technical accounting or financial reporting role.
  • (OR) Associate's degree in finance, economics, accounting, or related field with a minimum of six (6) years of experience in an advanced technical accounting or financial reporting role.
  • (OR) High school diploma with a minimum of eight (8) years of experience in an advanced technical accounting or financial reporting role.
