JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Penn State Berks Office of Strategic Communications is seeking applicants for a part-time Marketing and Communications Specialist.

The Marketing/Communications Specialist will be responsible for a variety of support tasks including:

  • Fact checking information for news releases and other materials.
  • Entering news articles and graphics into Penn State news database.
  • Maintaining list of media contacts and sending news releases.
  • Keeping track of college publicity.
  • Logistics for special events and video / photo shoots

In addition to support tasks, this opening will represent Strategic Communications at a variety of events and assignments on and off campus. Qualified candidates will have excellent writing and editing skills and basic graphic design knowledge. Experience with creating social media posts, photography and videography is preferred.

This part-time role is primarily an onsite position at Penn State Berks (1801 Broadcasting Rd., Reading, PA 19610). The opening offers flexible scheduling and may allow for a partial hybrid work arrangement following successful completion of training. Candidates must have reliable access to a mobile phone and dependable transportation. This role is wellsuited for candidates beginning their career or transitioning from academic study or equivalent experience.

Schedule: 20 hours per week

Compensation: The starting rate for this job is $20.00 per hour.

BACKGROUND CHECKS/CLEARANCES

Employment with the University will require successful completion of background check(s) in accordance with University policies. This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid driver's license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks.

Pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act and the Pennsylvania Act of 1988, Penn State publishes a combined Annual Security and Annual Fire Safety Report (ASR). The ASR includes crime statistics and institutional policies concerning campus security, such as those concerning alcohol and drug use, crime prevention, the reporting of crimes, sexual assault, and other matters.
