Responsibilities

NV5 is seeking an Roadway Design Engineer to join our growing transportation design team. This role is ideal for earlycareer engineers looking to build a strong technical foundation while contributing to roadway, highway, intersection, bicycle, and pedestrian infrastructure projects. You will work closely with senior engineers and project managers, gaining hands-on experience across all phases of roadway design.

    Provide technical support to project engineers and project managers
  • Develop conceptual roadway layouts under guidance
  • Assist in designing roadway geometrics
  • Support development of drainage designs
  • Prepare construction staging plans
  • Assist with erosion and sedimentation control designs
  • Prepare construction plan sheets and supporting documentation
  • Prepare right-of-way plans
  • Support development of construction staging plans
  • Perform other related design tasks as assigned
  • Work effectively in a collaborative, team-based environment


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
  • 0-4 years of relevant engineering experience
  • EIT certification preferred or ability to obtain
  • Interest in transportation engineering and roadway design
  • Familiarity with CAD platforms (MicroStation, AutoCAD, or similar)
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Good communication and technical writing skills.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Work effectively in a team-based, collaborative environment
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to think critically.
