The Enterprise Architect of the Platform Portfolio Review Team (PRT) leads Portfolio Architecture, collaborating with Architects and technical professionals to translate strategic demand into architectural solutions across Enterprise Foundational Services, Infrastructure, Network, IT Operations, Data & AI, SensAware, and InfoSec. This role partners with the Portfolio Execution Office (PEO), Solution Layer, and Enterprise/Solution Architects across FedEx Portfolios to identify architectural impacts and conceptual architecture solutions that feeds into the Solution Layer. The position requires strong leadership, a deep understanding of portfolio architecture, and the ability to develop creative solutions to complex challenges.

Lead the long range planning for the structure and interaction of the enterprise's major types/sources of data, information needs, and business processes/strategy.

Essential Functions:

*      Responsible for decisions/priorities regarding the overall enterprise's architecture.

*      Translate business needs into architectural solutions (current and target state) and defining solutions to problems through application of information technology.

*      Facilitate the establishment and implementation of standards/guidelines that direct integration of multiple platforms.

*      Develop/document the framework for integration/implementation for changes to architectural standards.

*      Determine architecture solutions that meet performance, scalability, reliability and security needs.

*      Provide technical guidance to project team.

*      Coach the development of Jr. IT architects

*      Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills/Knowledge Considered a Plus

*      External Industry Knowledge

*      Use of architectural modeling Tools (Sparx) / familiarity with architecture frameworks (TOGAF)

*      Experience collaborating with stakeholders

Key Responsibilities

  • Leadership: Strong enterprise architecture leadership skills. background and expertise in any of the following areas: Enterprise Foundational Services, Infrastructure, Network, IT Operations, Data & AI, SensAware, and Infosec.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner with Enterprise Architecture to develop conceptual architecture and progressively define portfolio impacts.
  • Enterprise Architecture: Align incoming demand with appropriate technical solutions and cloud migrations across Enterprise that meet performance, scalability, reliability and security needs.
  • Governance Oversight: Participate in demand and governance forums, ensuring rigorous identification of technical solutions for the Platform portfolio. Responsible for decisions/priorities regarding the overall enterprise's architecture.
  • Communication: Provide regular updates to all levels of stakeholders, including executive leadership, and escalate risks and issues as needed.
  • Execution and Monitoring: Track and communicate demand status throughout it's lifecycle.
  • Facilitation: Lead workshops, meetings, and ceremonies to eliminate barriers, improve collaboration, mitigate risks, and ensure information flows seamlessly between stakeholders.
  • Decision Making: Prioritize action over inaction when faced with incomplete knowledge or limited data.
  • Innovation: Address challenges with innovative, creative solutions.
  • Adaptive: Lead the team through an evolving technical landscape, adapting strategies, as necessary.
  • Additional Duties: Provide technical guidance to project teams, coach the development of junior architects, and perform other duties as assigned.

Key Skills:

  • Experience in portfolio or architectural demand management processes, tooling, and governance.
  • Deep understanding of technical architecture models to identify enterprise platform impacts, decompose conceptual architecture, and estimate scope and sizing for impacted teams.
  • Knowledge of Enterprise Foundational Services, Infrastructure, Network, IT Operations, Data & AI, SensAware, and Infosec.
  • Knowledge of architecture tools (e.g., IRIS, Sparx) deliverables.
  • Participate in architectural reviews, providing recommendations as needed.
  • Strong strategic thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent organizational, planning, and communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate complex information to all organizational levels, both verbally and in writing.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently.

Minimum Education

Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, information systems and/or equivalent formal training.

Minimum Experience

Five (5) years equivalent work experience in information technology or engineering environment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Ability to apply basic computer concepts, theories, principles and methods to projects, business problems, issues, and/or questions.

Strong communication skills.

If this opportunity includes multiple job levels, the range is a reasonable estimate of the current starting salary for the lowest level to the current starting salary of the highest level. Actual starting pay would be determined by experience relative to the job, market level, pay at the location for this job and other job-related factors.
