Position Summary
The Schlaeger Lab is seeking a highly motivated, skilled, and detail-oriented researcher to join our human stem cell biology laboratory. We are looking for a candidate who is capable of acquiring new skills efficiently, adept at multitasking, and thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative team environment where you will grow your expertise while advancing innovative projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Produce, maintain, and conduct quality control on human pluripotent stem cells.
  • Perform cellular analysis using techniques such as immunostaining, flow cytometry, DNA/RNA isolation, PCR, and other molecular biology methods.
  • Operate and maintain laboratory instruments, including flow cytometers, automated fluorescence microscopes, plate washers, plate readers, and liquid handling robotics.
  • Manage laboratory inventory by monitoring, ordering, and organizing supplies.
  • Prepare media and stock solutions for ongoing experiments.
  • Ensure strict compliance with institutional and federal guidelines regarding health, safety, and animal use regulations.
  • Develop research figures and assist in writing and updating laboratory protocols.
  • Mentor junior lab members and instruct them on proper laboratory techniques.
  • Present research findings and progress updates during weekly lab meetings.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences, Biochemistry, Chemistry, or a closely related field required; Master's degree preferred.
Experience:
  • Extensive hands-on undergraduate or graduate research laboratory experience highly preferred.
  • Willingness to work with animal models and human tissue samples.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to multi-task effectively to meet project deadlines.
  • Proficiency in following multi-step protocols and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a goal-focused team environment.
  • Commitment to a two-year duration in this role.
  • Human pluripotent stem cell culture and manipulation experience preferred.
  • CRISPR genome editing experience preferred.
  • Standard molecular biology techniques experience preferred.
  • Chemical and high-throughput screening methods, including the use of robotics experience preferred.
  • ddPCR and FACS (Fluorescence-Activated Cell Sorting) experience preferred.
  • Confocal microscopy and advanced image analysis experience preferred.
  • cGMP regulations and tissue culture practices experience preferred.

The posted pay range is Boston Children's reasonable and good-faith expectation for this pay at the time of posting.

Any base pay offer provided depends on skills, experience, education, certifications, and a variety of other job-related factors.
