BID/JOB ANNOUNCEMENT Iron Inspector Department of Buildings Bureau or Division Name (if applicable) Number of Positions: 1 (Additional vacancies possible pending budget approval) Starting Salary: $11,433.07 This position is open to the general public and to all current city employees covered under the terms of the City's collective bargaining agreement with the INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF BRIDGE, STRUCTURAL AND REINFORCING IRONWORKERS, Local 1 (BU #46). ESSENTIAL DUTIES
*Must be able to access (climbing ladders and stairs) multi-level buildings and work sites, including roofs and basements, to conduct inspections with possible exposure to noisy, dusty, or wet environments in all weather conditions and in all neighborhoods throughout the City*. Additional duties may be required for this position Location: 2045 West Washington Blvd. Days: Monday - Friday Hours: 7:00 am - 3:30 pm THIS POSITION IS IN THE CAREER SERVICE Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education, Training, and Experience * Successful completion of a US Department of Labor registered iron worker apprenticeship training program and journeyman status, OR Should the above criteria not be fulfilled, the following options are acceptable. o Successful completion of an industry or company-sponsored apprenticeship training program as an iron worker and have two (2) years of work experience as a journey-level iron worker o Five (5) years of journey-level work experience as an iron worker LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, or OTHER QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED O A valid State of Illinois driver's license is required. If you received your degree internationally, all international transcripts/diplomas must be accompanied by a Foreign Credential Evaluation.
