Job Description

Primary Purpose
Supports accurate financial reporting and basic analysis to ensure compliance with established standards. Contributes to routine data preparation and reporting that enable informed operational decisions.


The Accounting, Finance and Operations Rotation Program provides challenging opportunities to learn and grow through short-term work assignments. The program will allow you to apply what you have learned in school and further enhance your knowledge and expertise through hands-on training. The program consists of three one-year rotations, where participants have the opportunity to work in various departments before pursuing permanent positions outside of the program.


The Accounting, Finance and Operations Rotation Program prepares participants to be future leaders within the organization through organizational exposure, technical training and mentoring. Many different departments participate in the rotation program including:


Accounts Payable, Audit Services, Customer Operations Technology, Customer Services, Financial Accounting, Gas Acquisition and Plant Accounting.

Requirements



  • 3.0+ GPA
  • Seniors or Masters students graduating May/June 2026 pursuing a degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Mathematics/Statistics, Quantitative Analysis or other relevant fields who will have completed at least 24 credits in their respective majors by graduation.


Duties and Responsibilities



  • Assists in gathering data and preparing reports, ensuring compliance with internal and external regulatory requirements.
  • Contributes to the development of financial performance metrics and dashboards (e.g. resource utilization, efficiency metrics, profitability reporting).
  • Supports the consolidation and reporting of financial results on a timely basis.
  • Prepares and distributes financial reports for leadership following established templates and guidelines.
  • Supports with analyzing financial data (e.g. for cost control, alignment to targets, etc.) and identifies potential issues or discrepancies.
  • Participates in the close process, collaborating closely with the accounting team to ensure accurate and timely completion.
  • Supports maintenance and accuracy of financial data systems.
  • Assists with preparing basic variance explanations for recurring reviews.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Required: Financial Planning - Ability to analyze and evaluate financial plans, budgets, and forecasts to ensure effective resource allocation and support long-term organizational objectives. Skilled in leveraging financial data and predictive models to optimize expenditure, savings strategies, and investment decisions for improved financial performance.
  • Required: Financial Analysis - Analyzes the financial statements and data to provide insights about the financial performance and position of the organization over time.
  • Required: Financial Regulatory Reporting - Financial reporting is a standard accounting practice that uses financial statements to disclose a company's financial information and performance over a particular period, usually on an annual or quarterly basis.
  • Required: Financial Modeling - Designing mathematical models and analyzing data to estimate the financial performance and value of a company or investment, involves analyzing historical financial data, projecting future scenarios, and measuring the variance between projections and actual performance.
  • Required: Financial Research - The gathering, analysis and interpretation of financial data, information, and trends to gain insights and make informed decisions regarding investments, financial strategies, risk management, and other financial activities.
  • Required: Documents Management - Creating, distributing, using, maintaining and disposition of recorded information maintained as evidence of business activities and transactions.
  • Required: Financial Budgeting - Creating and managing a budget for an organization or a project, analyzing financial data, making informed decisions about resource allocation, and tracking expenses to ensure financial stability and growth.
  • Required: Financial Forecasting - A financial forecast is an estimate of future financial outcomes for a company or project, usually applied in budgeting, capital budgeting and / or valuation. Depending on context the term may also refer to listed company (quarterly) earnings guidance.
  • Required: Variance Analysis - Analyzing the difference between actuals and some predetermined measure such as a budget, plan or rolling forecast.
  • Required: Regulatory Compliance - Ensuring an organization's adherence to laws, regulations, guidelines and specifications relevant to its business processes.
