Position Summary

Why This Role Exists
Our mission is simple: deliver products that meet the highest standards of quality, reliability, and performance in high-stakes environments. As a Quality Engineer Intern, you will directly support the systems, processes, and teams responsible for ensuring products perform as intended-every time.

This isn't a shadow-and-observe internship. You will contribute to real quality improvements, investigate real production and product issues, and help drive measurable impact across manufacturing and operational processes.

Job Description

What You'll Do (Impact-Focused)

You will partner with quality engineers, manufacturing, operators, and supply chain to:

  • Analyze product and process quality data to identify trends, defects, and improvement opportunities

  • Support root cause investigations (RCA) and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)

  • Assist in developing and improving quality documentation, including control plans, inspection procedures, and work instructions

  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on defect reduction and process capability

  • Conduct inspections, audits, and process validations to ensure compliance with quality standards

  • Support implementation of statistical process control (SPC) and data-driven quality monitoring

  • Collaborate with manufacturing to improve first-pass yield and reduce rework/scrap

  • Help implement mistake-proofing (poka-yoke) and robust quality controls

  • Assist in supplier quality activities, including incoming inspection and issue resolution

You will leave this internship having made measurable improvements in product quality and process reliability.

What Success Looks Like

By the end of your internship, you will have:

  • Identified and helped reduce at least one recurring quality issue

  • Contributed to a documented quality or process improvement project

  • Demonstrated ownership of a scoped quality engineering initiative

  • Improved a quality metric (e.g., defect rate, yield, or process capability)

  • Built trust with operators and cross-functional partners

  • Presented findings and recommendations to engineering or quality leadership

Who Thrives Here

We're looking for interns who are:

  • Pursuing a degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or related Engineering field

  • Analytical and comfortable working with data and identifying patterns

  • Detail-oriented with a strong focus on quality and reliability

  • Curious about how and why things fail-and how to prevent it

  • Comfortable working on a production floor and engaging with operators

  • Strong communicators who can translate data into actionable insights

  • Self-directed and motivated to solve real-world problems

Bonus If You Have Exposure To:
  • Quality tools (SPC, FMEA, control plans, root cause analysis)

  • Lean / Six Sigma methodologies

  • Minitab, Excel, or other data analysis tools

  • Technical drawings & GD&T

  • Quality standards (ISO 9001, AS9100, etc.)
