Description

Position Summary:

The Gardener is responsible for planting, weeding, watering and pruning of gardens during the Spring and Summer months. They are also responsible for helping with the general maintenance of the MacKenzie-Childs grounds (sweeping and raking).



Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: (Additional duties may be assigned)

20% Weeding

20% Watering plants

20% Planting

20% Pruning bushes and trees

10% Sweeping debris from walkways

10% Raking leaves, debris, etc.



Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:



  • High school diploma or GED
  • Some flower/plant experience preferred



Special Requirements:



  • Occasional weekend work as required to meet business needs.



Location: Aurora, NY



Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:



  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced, dynamic and changing environment with a focus on meeting deadlines.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to read and interpret paperwork.
  • Maintain consistent, dependable attendance

Safety Equipment: Gloves



Physical and Mental Requirements:



  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, reach, push, pull, crouch, kneel, bend, climb, use fingers to grasp, handle, feel, and perform repetitive motions of hands or wrists.
  • Exerts up to 25 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently or constantly to move objects.
  • Minimum mental and visual attention to perform highly routine, simple, rough, or closely directed work such as cleaning up, using simple tools for rough work, handling crude materials, or operating simple controls that don't require adjustment.



Environmental Conditions:

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly outdoors with exposure to weather conditions (rain, snow, sun, wind), to temperatures typically above 90 degrees for more than one hour, and is exposed to hazardous materials (poison ivy).
