Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform IMRT QA under the direction of a medical physicist to ensure accuracy of radiation treatment plans
  • Perform mechanical quality assurance on therapy units (monthly and annual QA)
  • Perform and/or assist with dosimetry measurements (e.g., ion chamber, TLD, film) as directed
  • Participate in clinical activities related to physics/dosimetry as assigned
  • Support research activities as directed by the Physics/Dosimetry leadership
  • Assist with acquisition and transfer of patient-related data (CT simulation, diagnostic imaging, prior treatment records)
  • Perform DICOM data registration/fusion and assist with contouring under dosimetrist supervision
  • Monitor and update departmental tracking tools (e.g., whiteboards, care paths)
  • Import patient data into EMR and oncology information systems
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by Physics/Dosimetry leadership
  • Comply with HIPAA guidelines and Inova policies and procedures
  • May perform additional duties as assigned.

Additional Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Physics or a related field required; Master's degree preferred
  • Basic understanding of radiation oncology, medical physics, dosimetry, and medical terminology
  • Working knowledge of radiation safety principles
  • Proficiency with basic computer applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); scripting experience preferred
  • Experience with RayStation is preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Availability to work outside normal business hours (including evenings and weekends)
