About the Job

Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated Data Scientist to join the University of Minnesota Epilepsy Institute. The successful candidate will help lead the technical execution of our clinical data infrastructure, playing a key role in integrating multimodal data across several institutions. This position offers a unique opportunity to lead data harmonization efforts and establish secure, collaborative frameworks that directly impact the future of epilepsy research.

Work Schedule: Hybrid, Monday - Friday, ~7am - ~ 5pm.

Duties/Responsibilities:
Under general supervision, this candidate is expected to perform the following responsibilities with efficient execution:

Infrastructure & Database Design: (75%)

  • Coordinate the development of a multi-site data infrastructure platform (including the design of database schemas and scalable architecture) in collaboration with internal and external
    partners.
  • Coordinate the development and maintenance of automated data pipelines and analytic workflows for multimodal research data.

Data Analytics: (15%)

  • Support the development of advanced statistical modeling (e.g., machine learning, and programming) and advanced mathematics to assist in analysis of multimodal data patterns.
  • Coordinate the testing and analyzing of hypotheses, and interprets the results of experiments under the supervision of the principal investigator.

General Research: (10%)

  • Assists in research and applies knowledge of existing and emerging data science to inform solutions across a broad array of functions and business decisions and presents findings.
Qualifications

All required qualifications must be included in the application materials

Required Qualifications:

  • BA/BS Degree or a combination of education and relevant work experience to equal at least four years;
  • Experience in data science and web development utilizing applications such as AWS, Python, MATLAB, R, SQL, HTML;
  • Experience in the development of the CoCANoT consortium website;
  • Experience in Drupal Lite application systems for web development

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to follow strict research protocols with utmost ethical standards;
  • Ability to take initiative and keep track of duties independently, under general supervision;
  • Comfortable presenting progress updates and data-sharing strategies in a collaborative, multi-institutional environment;

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $22.28/hr - $38.47/hr; depending on education/qualifications/experience

Time Appointment: 100% Appointment
