Summary

Baker Power & Process is seeking a qualified Sr. Project Controls Engineer to support multiple construction projects. The primary effort is to work with our clients and project delivery teams by developing cost and schedule baselines, collecting, and analyzing monthly progress, analyzing project variances, integration into project financial forecasts, and reporting this information to appropriate levels in standard formats. The Sr. Project Controls Engineer will also support the implementation of financial controls, procedures, systems, forecasting techniques and will interface with members of the project teams and various levels of management.

Roles and Responsibilities

The Sr. Project Controls Engineer will perform the following duties in a safe, productive, and effective manner:



  • Responsible for completing routine aspects of project control assignments with minimal oversight
  • Develops, maintains, and analyzes integrated critical path schedules for major projects in accordance with contract specifications
  • Develops and documents project planning considerations and objectives, scope, and milestones to incorporate into the schedule
  • Gathers project progress information from project manager and project team members to update and monitor the project
  • Evaluates and updates data regarding schedule dates, physical percent complete, resource requirements, subcontractor commitments and project accruals
  • Reviews schedule progress and productivity of resources.
  • Develops time-phased project cost and resource forecasts; validates project costs & updates requirements as required
  • Monitors progress of project deliverables and actual expenditures versus forecasts
  • Conducts performance reporting for major projects using Earned Value Management
  • Conducts financial analysis including variance, risk, and profit/loss analyses
  • Documents and assesses the impact of project changes on cost/schedule baselines
  • Generates and analyzes earned value reports for projects and discuss any observations with the project manager
  • Prepares client and internal status reports to communicate cost status and document trends

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required in relevant field (engineering/construction/business), or equivalent work experience.


The following competencies are needed to successfully perform this job:



  • In-depth knowledge and experience in power and industrial engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) project controls practices and methods.
  • Experienced Primavera (P6) user
  • Capable of defining initial schedule activity durations for review with construction management
  • Advanced level understanding of project controls, scheduling, and earned value management systems and principles
  • Intermediate to advanced level understanding of project management
  • Advanced level proficiency with Microsoft Office software suite
  • Exceptional communication, teamwork and influencing skills that foster a collaborative and continuous-improvement environment
  • Capable of managing multiple tasks concurrently (e.gl, parallel project controls support for new work and projects under execution)
