Summary The Civil Engineering College Intern will support the Engineering Department by assisting with administrative tasks and contributing to specific projects or portions of broader assignments under the guidance and mentorship of experienced professional engineers. This role is designed to provide hands-on experience that complements academic learning, helping to bridge the transition from student to professional. This internship opportunity may vary in duration, including time-specific internships, extended part-time positions, or a combination of both. The intern will participate in the Engineering Department Exposure Plan; and, during the summer months, exposure to various governmental functions within the City of Garland through the City's Student Ambassador Program may be an option. Flexible hours, schedules, and hybrid work arrangements (in-office and remote) may be available. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications Education/ Experience: Experience or interest in one or more of the following areas: land development, hydrology and hydraulics, roadway design, stormwater systems, water and wastewater systems, construction management. Familiarity with engineering software, such as: BlueBeam, ArcGIS, CAD, and HEC-RAS. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
