Cybersecurity & OT Analyst / Senior Cybersecurity & OT Analyst - Digital Process Systems

Job Summary

This position is on the Digital Process Systems team within the Harris Nuclear Plant Engineering organization. Employees at this level manage work in information and operational technological areas of specialization, with minimal supervision. Incumbents are expected to develop advanced skills and to have the ability to work independently, with guidance limited to unusual or complex projects or issues. They are fully competent in use of concepts and procedures . They identify problems, develop solutions and take actions to resolve. Senior Cybersecurity & OT Professional represents a level at which career may stabilize for many years.

This position provides support for nuclear site process computers, various plant control and data acquisition systems such as the Distributed I&C System Platform (DICSP), Emergency Response Information system (ERFIS), Waste Process Computer System, Security Computer system, OSI/PI Systems, Security Event and Information Management System (SIEM), Plant Network System, Emergency Preparedness System (EPNET) and Simulator ERFIS and DICSP system as required.

Job Responsibilities

  • Perform day-to-day activities in support of operational technology and cyber security program and policies. This may include maintenance (patching/upgrade), support of new installations or upgrades, and other items as directed.
  • Assist in development and revision of the ongoing strategy of the operational technology lifecycle management and Cybersecurity Program
  • Assess and respond to complex operational technology and cyber security events and incidents
  • Lead or support large, complex or multiple smaller cyber security projects and efforts
  • Provides technical expertise and guidance in the identification, analysis and resolution of problems for digital control and data acquisition systems
  • Provide troubleshooting and repair support, updates, vulnerability patching and back-ups for various plant digital systems and firewalls. Supported systems include ERFIS, DVP/DCS, SIEM, Plant Process Network, and OSI/PI systems.
  • Provide troubleshooting and maintenance support for ERFIS MUX and Security MUX issues
  • Provide support to Plant Operations staff on issues with plant digital systems
  • Work with vendors on hardware/software issues on Plant Process Digital systems
  • Perform Cyber and DPS reviews for Engineering Change (EC) development
  • Provide inputs to budgets and long-range plans
  • Completes non-routine technical projects with minimal oversight with the ability to independently manage project schedules and interfaces
  • Maintain the ability to support cyber-attack mitigation and incident response
  • Member of the HNP Cyber Security Assessment Team (CSAT)
  • Competency in the use of tools and techniques to physically and logically harden CDAs and networks to reduce vulnerabilities to cyber attack
  • Plans and executes work orders and work requests through established work management system

Required Qualifications

Cybersecurity & OT Analyst

  • Bachelors in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity or related technical discipline
  • 2 years related work experience with required degree
  • In lieu of required degree and 2 years related work experience listed above, High School/GED and 6 years of direct related experience

Sr Cybersecurity & OT Analyst

  • Bachelors in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity or related technical discipline
  • 5 years related work experience with required degree
  • In lieu of required degree and 5 years related work experience listed above, High School/GED and 9 years of direct related experience

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience in the technical aspects of multiple digital technologies and platforms, operating systems, software, communications and network protocol such as:
    • Ethernet, TCP/IP, UDP/IP, switches, routers, firewalls, etc.
    • Operating systems such as Windows Server 2003, 2008, 2012, 2019 , Windows XP, Windows 7, Windows 10, QNX, Linux
    • PI Vision, OSI/PI historian
  • Demonstrated knowledge of real time/data acquisition/control systems, including hardware, software, and interfaces
  • Previous Nuclear Station work experience with Plant Monitoring System, Plant Security Computer, and Cyber Security Defensive Architecture
  • Ability the read Plant Drawings (Control Wiring Diagrams (CWDs, One-line diagrams, Logic Diagrams)
  • Previous Nuclear Cyber Security experience and familiarity with related NEI guidance
  • Experience related to performing Cyber Security reviews for Plant Engineering Changes
  • Experience related to performing Cyber Security Threat Vulnerability evaluations
  • Hold or can obtain Duke Energy Cyber Security Assessment Team qualification
  • Ability to mentor others related to Cyber Security qualifications (CSS, CSAT, etc.)
  • Hold or can obtain Duke Energy Cyber Security Incident Response Team Lead
  • Demonstrated ability to work on assigned projects with minimal supervision
  • Demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of customers in all levels of an organization
  • Ability to deliver superior results within allocated time through effective prioritization, scheduling, planning and execution of assigned work
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team, be a self-starter, exercise flexibility, and take personal responsibility for assigned accountabilities.

Working Conditions

  • This is an on-site position at the Shearon Harris Nuclear Plant in New Hill, North Carolina.

Specific Requirements

  • Nuclear Plant unescorted access
  • This position may be required to have Emergency Response Organization (ERO) responsibilities which could include callouts with a defined response time to the site and an on-call duty rotation requiring the employee to be Fit for Duty.
  • Occasional work during nights and weekends or extended workdays may be necessary to support nuclear regulatory compliance, unit outages, or emergent equipment issues callouts.
  • Typical Office environment with flexibility to support plant operations. Must be able to work in an industrial environment safely.
