DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As an Installation Police Officer, you will deliver comprehensive law enforcement services to safeguard employees, the public, and all property, facilities, and grounds. Your responsibilities include conducting foot and vehicle patrols, responding to calls for service, investigating incidents and accidents, and evaluating the nature and urgency of reported emergencies. In this role, you will carry out the full authority of a sworn officer by enforcing applicable laws, regulations, and policies through warnings, citations, and arrests. Additionally, you will manage traffic at public events and accident scenes, operate patrol vehicles and communication systems, and provide first aid when other emergency responders are not immediately available. Ongoing training is an essential part of the position, ensuring you maintain the critical knowledge and skills needed to perform effectively.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
  • Work hours consist of 12-hour shifts, either 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM or 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM, with rotating days off.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Successful completion of the Municipal Police Officers' Education and Training Commission Certified Basic Police Academy (Act 120) training.

Special Requirements:

  • You must be in possession of a valid Pennsylvania non-commercial Class C driver's license or equivalent.

Other Requirements:

  • You must meet the PA residency requirement. For more information on ways to meet PA residency requirements, follow the link and click on Residency Guidelines.
  • You must pass a physical ability test based on the Municipal Police Officers' Education and Training Commission physical fitness assessment standards.
  • You must possess a valid federal or state-issued photo ID and pass a favorable NCIC screening for admittance to Fort Indiantown Gap.
  • You must maintain an Automated Installation Entry (AIE) card once it is issued.
  • You must obtain an active Commonwealth Law Enforcement Assistance Network (CLEAN) certification issued by the Pennsylvania State Police within the probationary period and maintain the same for the duration of employment in this job.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

  • You must pass a background investigation.
  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination and drug screening.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
    • Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
