DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As an Administrative Officer 3 within the Bureau of Veterans Programs, you will lead advocacy and strategic outreach for justice-involved veterans. Your primary objective will be to generate awareness and secure support for essential services by developing strategic partnerships and overseeing the acquisition and monitoring of related grants. You will be responsible for designing and executing large-scale campaigns to educate the public and the veteran support community on critical issues, including reintegration for hard-to-place veterans, Veterans Service Units (VSU), and Veterans Treatment Courts. To ensure program success, you will coordinate extensively with the Department of Corrections, the Department of Human Services, and county directors. Working closely with the Statewide Veterans Coordinator, you will optimize correctional veteran services and ensure all initiatives align with program goals and grant requirements. Your role involves identifying operational risks, creating mitigation plans, and building strong coalitions among internal leadership, veteran service organizations, and community providers to facilitate the successful reintegration and support of veterans in need.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are 8:15 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 45-minute lunch.
  • Work location will be based on the location of the selected candidate. Available work locations include Erie, Hollidaysburg, Jonestown, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Scranton, and Spring City.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. You will be required to work in the office 5 days a pay period. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to an approved headquarters office. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as an Administrative Officer 2 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Four years of experience in progressively responsible and varied office management of staff work in public or private organization, including experience in personnel management budgeting or procurement; and such training as may have been gained through graduation from a four-year college or university; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
Additional Requirements:
  • You must possess a valid federal or state-issued photo ID and pass a favorable NCIC screening for admittance to Fort Indiantown Gap.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Preferred Qualification (not required):

  • Experience in a legal and/or justice focused role, including experience in outreach, grants, procurement, or community development
