Project Manager - PEO, Benefits & EDI Integrations

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead and execute complex initiatives across PEO operations, employee benefits administration, and EDI integrations. This role will drive cross-functional projects involving Benefits, Underwriting, Payroll, IT, and external carriers/vendors, with a focus on system implementations, data integrations, and process optimization.

The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience in PEO operations, benefits administration, and EDI file setup/management, and is comfortable operating in a fast-paced, high-volume environment with strict timelines (e.g., renewals, open enrollment).

Key Responsibilities

Project Leadership & Execution

  • Lead end-to-end delivery of projects across Benefits, Payroll, and Operations
  • Define scope, timelines, milestones, and dependencies across multiple stakeholders
  • Drive execution against aggressive timelines (e.g., annual renewals, open enrollment cycles)
  • Proactively identify risks, bottlenecks, and resource constraints and drive resolution

Benefits & PEO Operations

  • Partner with Benefits, Underwriting, and Client Services teams to implement and optimize Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, Disability plans
  • Support onboarding of new clients and renewals within a PEO environment
  • Ensure alignment between contracts (BRDs), system configuration, and carrier requirements

EDI & Carrier Integrations

  • Lead implementation and maintenance of EDI integrations with carriers and vendors
  • Oversee setup, testing, and validation of 834 enrollment files and eligibility/billing feeds
  • Coordinate with internal IT and external vendors to troubleshoot data discrepancies
  • Ensure data integrity across systems (payroll benefits carrier)

Systems & Process Optimization

  • Drive improvements across payroll/HRIS platforms, CRM (Salesforce), and benefits tools
  • Identify and implement automation opportunities
  • Standardize workflows across Benefits, Contracts, and Implementation teams

Stakeholder Management

  • Serve as the central point of coordination between internal teams and external partners
  • Communicate progress, risks, and outcomes to stakeholders
  • Facilitate working sessions and drive cross-functional decision-making

Qualifications

Required

  • 5-8+ years of experience in Project Management (Operations, HR, or Benefits environment)
  • Experience in PEO, HR outsourcing, or benefits administration
  • Strong experience with EDI integrations, including 834 files and carrier connectivity
  • Understanding of benefits enrollment workflows and open enrollment cycles
  • Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent projects

Preferred

  • Experience with Prism HR, Salesforce, or similar platforms
  • Familiarity with carrier integrations (Aetna, Kaiser, Blue Cross, etc.)
  • PMP, Agile, or similar certification
  • Experience in high-growth or transformation environments

Why This Role Matters

This role is critical to scaling operations, improving data integrity, and enabling seamless client and employee experiences across benefits and payroll systems. Success in this position directly impacts client satisfaction, operational efficiency, and revenue growth.

Salary and Other Compensation:

The starting salary for this position is between 90-130K. Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include geography, skills, education, experience, certifications, and other qualifications of the candidate.

This position is also eligible for annual incentive pay equal to 10% of annual regular pay, prorated in the first year, in accordance with the terms of the Company's plan.

Paid Time Off: Accrued sick leave of 1 hour for every 40 hours of work, with maximum based on state or regional requirements; vacation accrues up to 80 hours in the first year, up to 120 hours in years 2-4, and up to 160 hours in the fifth year; 6 paid holidays annually, 4 paid volunteer days annually.
