Job Description:
  • Do you have an eye for detail and a passion for developing innovation solutions? Join our team! Mass Properties engineers at SNC research, design, develop, test, certify, deploy and support cutting edge products & services. These cover a very wide range from state of the art mission payloads and electronic systems through highly integrated aircraft. You'll be responsible for taking a leading role in developing weight control plans on a large aircraft modification.
  • Your technical responsibilities involve supporting multiple programs across SNC from a mass properties perspective, from conceptual design studies, to large aircraft modification programs, to quick-reaction upgrades. You will generate mass properties databases to track weight and CG estimates, and support aircraft weighings, as well as ensuring that the right mass properties reporting is communicated across the team and to external customer and suppliers in an effective and timely manner.
Required Skills:
  • Thorough knowledge of engineering principles and practices
  • Deep knowledge of SAWE Recommended Practices RP-7 and RP-8
  • Experience with aircraft weighing and associated forms and charts
  • Experience with conceptual level design support and parametric modeling
  • Experience building mass properties estimates from CAD data
  • Author for weight and balance reports
  • Experience working in multi-disciplinary design & development teams
Preferred Skills:
  • Automated Weight and Balance System (AWBS) training within the previous three years.
  • Familiarity with Commercial Derivative Aircraft (CDA) for military programs.
  • Experience with Dassualt 3DX and/or Solidworks.
  • Knowledge of industry standard aerospace principles, to include, but not limited to parametric design, model-based definition, fundamentals of flight mechanics
  • Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry, US Department of Defense and/or US Military

Education:
  • Bachelor's of Science degree in a related discipline and typically 10 more years of relevant experience
