Position Summary

The Sourcing and Commodity Manager manages day-to-day sourcing and product readiness activities supporting the Next Gen Single Aisle (NGSA) program, ensuring timely availability of raw materials, components, equipment, and operating supplies required to meet production and program commitments. The role drives supplier performance, cost, quality, and delivery execution while embracing and advancing Lean enterprise systems throughout the end-to-end procurement process. This role will not have direct reports.

Essential Functions

  • Build and deploy the supply chain launch strategy for the Next Gen Single Aisle (NGSA) program, including governance, operating cadence, risk management, and execution tactics to support engineering release and production readiness milestones.

  • Establish an agile, launch-ready supplier base capable of meeting NGSA capture and ramp requirements (capacity, lead time, qualification, cost, and delivery performance), with clear escalation and recovery plans.

  • Lead a cross-functional High Performance Team (HPT) to drive NGSA supply chain work scope to schedule, ensuring alignment across Engineering, Operations, Quality, Programs, and Finance.

  • Translate NGSA production specifications, build schedules, and engineering/quality requirements into material and component demand plans; ensure material readiness to support prototype, first article, and rate ramp phases.

  • Define and execute supplier selection and sourcing strategies for NGSA, using robust criteria (price, quality, on-time delivery, certifications, compliance, and program-specific requirements) and prioritizing strategic suppliers where appropriate.

  • Lead supplier engagement and negotiations to secure pricing, lead times, capacity commitments, and terms that enable NGSA launch objectives; standardize processes to maximize leverage and ensure sourcing decisions align with division and group strategies.

  • Partner with suppliers to drive launch readiness and continuous improvement, focusing on defect prevention, delivery stability, responsiveness, and cost competitiveness throughout the NGSA lifecycle.

  • Implement supplier performance metrics, benchmarking, and review mechanisms to monitor readiness, identify gaps early, and drive corrective actions through launch and into sustained production.

  • Ensure NGSA-related purchasing and capital expenditures align to division launch strategy and remain within approved budgets, with proactive reporting of risks and forecast-to-actual variances.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in Business Administration or related field (e.g., finance, law/contract law; program management), and experience which has provided both theoretical and practical knowledge in the field.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform the essential functions of the job typically acquired through 5-7 years of increasingly responsible experience in contract administration or procurement.
  • Experience leading and developing teams.
  • Potential and willingness to travel up to 40-50% as needed.
  • Certificate in Purchasing Management (CPM) or Contracts Management desired.
  • Advanced, specialized knowledge of material requirements planning methods, principles, industry practices, and policies.
  • Knowledge of complex legal and regulatory requirements related to government procurement regulations, or similar commercial or FAA requirements.
  • Ability to effectively assess, lead, and implement continuous improvement in critical and/or high-impact areas.
  • Proficient with standard business application software and specialized purchasing and/or materials systems (e.g., electronic data interface (EDI) or manufacturing resource planning (MRP) systems).
  • Ability to work on complex problems where in-depth analysis and evaluation of situations or data frequently require complicated negotiations.
  • Ability to solve a wide range of unique problems of considerable scope and complexity that may require new approaches or significant modification of standard procedure.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex policies and recommend changes to procedures.
  • Ability to respond to significant inquiries or complaints from subcontractors, customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on complex topics to division management, bidders, suppliers, and customers.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to effectively demonstrate team member competencies and participate in goal setting, performance feedback, and self-development activities
