OVERVIEW: A Civil Project Engineer - SUE you will work with project teams in the development and completion of Sub-Surface Utility Engineering (SUE) projects, working directly with both office and field staff, ensuring projects remain within budget and on schedule. You have a degree in Civil Engineering, at least 3 years of professional experience and are registered in Texas as a Professional Engineer.

YOUR DAY-DAY WILL INCLUDE:



  • Work with the project team to create an action plan for the development and project completion of assigned Sub-Surface Utility Engineering projects, ensuring projects remain within a specified budget and schedule.
  • Interact and work directly with field and office staff.
  • Research experience with as-built record drawings from utilities as required for use in project designs preferred.
  • Balance multiple tasks on multiple projects.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers to identify and troubleshoot problems.
  • Coordinate with other SUE departments when necessary.
  • Participate in site visits, agency meetings, and municipal meetings as needed.
  • Sit and/or stand for extended periods of time.
  • Move around the office including movement between floors and workstations.
  • Use repeated motions (e. g., typing, reaching, bending, lifting, and carrying).


WHAT YOU NEED:



  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering.
  • 3-5 years' professional engineering experience required. Experience with Subsurface Engineering and TxDOT-related projects Preferred
  • Professional Engineer registration in Texas or the ability to acquire registration quickly through reciprocity.
  • TxDOT Pre-Certification in 18.2.1 Subsurface Utility Engineering or the ability to acquire precertification quickly is required.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook required.
  • The ability to balance multiple work assignments on multiple projects at the same time.
  • The ability to work alone but also effectively as part of a team.
  • Process-oriented thinking with strong organizational and technical skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, and the ability to take and understand directives.
  • The ability to complete work consistently, with moderate flexibility to accommodate varying demands from Project Managers.
  • Candidates are required to have a valid driver's license, pass a 3-year prior to employment DMV background check and criminal record as determined by McKim & Creed.
  • Candidates are required to pass a pre-employment drug screening.
