Under supervision, incumbents perform the duties of an operational level physical therapist. The Per Diem Physical Therapist reports to the Clinical Supervisor, Physical Therapy and provides both direct and indirect patient care services. The Per Diem P.T. works primarily with adult and geriatric patients from diverse socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds. The Per Diem P.T. with specific pediatric competencies may also work with infants, children and/or adolescents. Under general direction and upon receipt of written referrals, the Per Diem P.T. plans and administers a full range of physical therapy services for patients with a variety of physical and cognitive impairments and disabilities. Services include patient evaluations using physical therapy tests and measurements, establishment of therapeutic intervention goals and development of therapeutic intervention programs, and implementation of therapeutic intervention plans utilizing physical therapy modalities and procedures. The Per Diem Physical Therapist maintains all applicable patient records related to the delivery of patient care services. While performing job duties, the Per Diem P.T. may also provide guidance to support personnel including Physical Therapist Assistants and Rehabilitation Aides, as needed.

Required Qualifications:
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to recognize signs of distress.
- Basic computer skills in word processing and on line communication.
- Possession of good interpersonal, time management, problem solving and self-initiation skills.
- This position requires flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Minimum of one year outpatient patient care experience.
- Prior physical therapy experience in an academic medical center environment.
- Prior experience working with an interdisciplinary health provider team.
- Possession of a degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited professional educational program.
- Possession of a Board Certification from the APTA.
- Prior EMR documentation experience.
Licensure/Certifications:
- Licensure as a Physical Therapist with the California State Board of Medical Quality Assurance, and knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position.
- Possession of or proven eligibility for CPR certification
