YOUR OPPORTUNITY


We have an exciting General Engineering Technician opportunity in our Guymon, Oklahoma, processing plant. The engineering technician will perform activities and tasks in a designated department (mechanical, electrical, or refrigeration) by identifying issues, troubleshooting, problem-solving, isolating problems, removing/replacing damaged/failed components, performing preventive maintenance, and upgrading mechanical, electrical, and ammonia systems required to maintain the production of a processing facility harvesting over 21,500 animals per day. This position is recognized as highly skilled and knowledgeable in mechanical, industrial, and electrical systems. The general engineering technician must adhere to general good manufacturing practices, food safety protocols, and workplace safety policies and procedures.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Performs tasks, activities, and responsibilities according to the established standard operating procedures and checklists.
  • Performs preventive maintenance on equipment according to an established schedule.
  • Identifies continuous improvement initiatives when troubleshooting equipment issues to enhance overall efficiency and reduce waste in production.
  • Interprets work orders and specifications to determine if machines and equipment require replacement, repair, or general maintenance.
  • Investigate, identify, and resolve operational constraints in the process while eliminating and minimizing bottlenecks to prevent operational downtime.
  • Ensures equipment is set up properly and operates for maximum efficiencies.


QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS



  • Must take and pass the Mechanical Reasoning Test.
  • Must properly utilize safety equipment such as a hard hat, harness, earplugs, steel toed boots, hairnet or beard cover, gloves, safety glasses, and welding equipment as needed.
  • Understand that the hours and days of work are established as needed by operations and at the discretion of management and while general as shown below, may be changed (increased or decreased) by management as required.
  • The maintenance department works four days on and three days off. The workday consists of a twelve-hour shift.
  • Engineering degree mechanical, mechatronics, industrial, electrical or equivalent.
  • 1 year of relevant experience in a technician role, preferably food manufacturing.
  • Analytically minded and willing to learn new computer systems.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to move around the facility.
  • The employee must regularly lift and move up to 75 pounds, and occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • This position works on the production floor 95% of the time.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee works near moving mechanical parts; and occasionally in outside weather conditions and is exposed to fumes or airborne particles and vibration.
  • The noise level in the work environment requires hearing protection at all times when on the production floor
