TITLE Assistant Director Civic Engagement JOB SUMMARY The Assistant Director Civic Engagement in the Center for Student Involvement advances a campus-wide culture of civic engagement by integrating leadership, student engagement, and service into the co-curricular experience. This role advises the Student Government Association, mentors student leaders, and fosters ethical decision-making and meaningful dialogue. In collaboration with campus and community partners, the Assistant Director develops and facilitates a range of civic learning initiatives, including service projects, voter engagement, and community partnerships. Through these efforts, the position promotes civic leadership, social responsibility, and positive social change. The performance evaluation is conducted through the performance evaluation system and in accordance with the University Policies and Procedures. EDUCATION Master's degree in higher education, student development, counseling, or a related field is preferred. Additional education beyond a master's degree may substitute for some of the required experience. EXPERIENCE Three years of related work experience advising students and student groups, may include graduate student work/assistantship. REQUIREMENT Valid Texas driver's license and a safe driving record such as required by the university for Driver's Authorization. Regular and reliable attendance at the University during regular scheduled days and work hours is an essential function of this position. PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described in the Essential Duties and below are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential duties of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee must have the ability to ascend and descend stairs and have the ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. The employee may be required to travel and may be required to work occasional weekends and evenings. Supervisors and employees should ensure that injury/accident reports are submitted to the Office of Human Resources and Risk Management within 24 hours of the incident.
