Position Summary

The Lab Technician Intern position supports the optical research and development (R&D) team in continuing and new product development. This position will work under the supervision of the R&D scientists to develop and execute test plans and communicate the results through reports and presentations. The tests will evaluate the performance of existing products and answer key questions for products in development. Additionally, the intern will assist with general tasks to support the team through library and database improvements, inventory, and system evaluations. The intern must have a working understanding of FTIR spectroscopy and will have completed at least one semester of organic chemistry. The intern will have strong organizational, record keeping and laboratory skills.

This position is a temporary, full-time in-person summer position, located in Danbury, CT.

Key Responsibilities



  • Chemical and real-life testing of new/current equipment/software
  • Product development support
  • Spectral library development
  • Chemical database improvements
  • Assist in inventory management
  • Perform system evaluations


Skills & Qualifications



  • At least one semester of organic chemistry
  • Operational knowledge of optical spectrometers (FTIR and Raman preferred).
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Enrolled in a physical science or forensic science program


Additional Information



  • Location:This is a temporary position, 40 hours per week onsite at our Danbury, CT facility
  • Compensation:The hourly base pay range for this position at the commencement of employment is expected to be between $24.00 and $30.00 per hour; the base pay offered may vary depending on several individualized factors, including market location, job-related skills, and experience.
