ABOUT THE JOB

Preparation of monthly and quarterly journal entries and reconciliation of assigned balance sheet accounts as well as assisting with audit requests and routine and non-routine accounting transactions. This is a key role in supporting the Cost Accounting and General Accounting Areas for Hawkins.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Account Reconciliations and Journal Entries



  • Prepare recurring and non-recurring journal entries monthly and complete reconciliations for assigned balance sheet accounts for Hawkins and its subsidiary entities as assigned


Fixed Assets



  • Process owner for all fixed asset accounting including:
  • Track construction in process.
  • Record fixed asset additions and retirements in FAS in a timely manner.
  • Run book and tax depreciation and asset reports in FAS. Record journal entries in JDE and reconcile FAS to JDE monthly
  • Prepare management reporting on fixed asset spending vs. budget and proactively monitor and analyze spending variances on projects while ensuring all capitalization and authorization policies are enforced.
  • Administer company vehicle program.


Inventory FOB Analysis



  • Perform quarterly FOB analysis.
  • Prepare final schedules and journal entry accruals for both inbound and outbound FOB inventory.


Work Orders



  • Monitor work order variances and work with operations department to correct transactions


Reporting



  • Preparation of financial and inventory schedules as assigned


Product Costing



  • Support and backup processes for maintaining product standard costs.
  • Take a lead role in managing engineering change requests for manufactured product costs.


Other Activities as assigned including but not limited to:



  • Cross train and act as backup for other accounting staff as assigned.
  • Support sox audits and quarterly and year-end external audits
  • Assist the accounting department in various analytical projects as needed.
  • Responsible for updating and maintain the Company's Sarbanes Oxley documentation for relevant areas as specified in the Sox control documents and responsible to ensure changes to documented controls and/or procedures are communicated as appropriate.


ABOUT YOU:



  • Associate's degree in accounting or related field required, BA preferred, cost accounting experience preferred
  • 1-3 years relevant experience demonstrating strong analytical skills, ability to foster cross-functional working relationships, and capacity to handle multiple priorities and projects
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft applications - Excel, Word
  • JD Edwards and FAS (Fixed Asset System) experience preferred
  • Ability to achieve results independently and within a team setting
  • Ability to multitask and work well while meeting deadlines
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are necessary
  • Strong analytical ability

TRAVEL

No travel required

Expected Compensation: $60,000 - $75,000/year. + 5% bonus eligibility

Shift Hours: 8:00am-4:30pm
