Duke University is seeking an Assistant Director of Campus Mail Services to help lead and strengthen campuswide mail operations. In this role, you'll partner with the Director to provide strategic and operational leadership across multiple mail centers-ensuring services are efficient, compliant, and customerfocused for students, faculty, staff, and campus partners.

You'll play a key role in leading teams, improving processes, and enhancing the overall service experience. Minimum Requirements



  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, demonstrating strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Five years of experience in an operational or administrative role within a postal or logistics environment, including at least two years of supervisory experience. Experience in mail operations within a higher education setting is preferred.
  • A master's degree in business or management may substitute for two years of experience.



Preferred Qualifications



  • Experience in mail operations within a higher education environment
  • USPS certification (MQC, MDP, or EMCM)



Other Requirements



  • Ability to work under pressure in a highvolume environment and make sound, timely decisions
  • Strong problemsolving skills with the ability to identify and implement effective solutions
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, packagetracking systems, and postal equipment
  • Working knowledge of USPS products, services, mailing requirements, and electronic submission processes (Postal One, BMEU)

Position Description (Essential Duties)



  • Provide daily leadership and oversight to supervisory staff across campus mail centers
  • Manage personnel activities including hiring, training, performance evaluations, and scheduling
  • Analyze operational data to identify trends, service gaps, and process improvement opportunities
  • Review, update, and audit departmental procedures to ensure compliance with Duke policies and USPS regulations
  • Support budget monitoring, financial reconciliation, and postal account management
  • Utilize and oversee mail processing technology, packagetracking systems, and postal equipment
  • Respond to customer inquiries and service issues, recommending solutions and automation improvements
  • Build collaborative relationships with campus partners, vendors, and service providers

Anticipated Pay Range: Duke University provides an annual base salary range for this position as USD $68,970.00 to USD $127,008.00. Duke University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position; candidate's work experience, education/training, and key skills; internal peer equity; as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
