Senior ServiceNow Engineer
Location: Dallas, TX (Hybrid) Engagement Type: Contract-to-Hire Interview Process: Two rounds (virtual)
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior ServiceNow Engineer with a strong background in QA automation and handson platform development. This role bridges quality engineering and ServiceNow development, owning testing strategy, automation frameworks, and upgrade readiness while contributing directly to configuration, scripting, and integrations across the ServiceNow platform. The ideal candidate combines deep ServiceNow technical expertise with a qualityfirst mindset, ensuring scalable, highperforming, and reliable enterprise solutions across ITSM and ITOM environments.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Engineering & Automation
- Analyze business requirements and ServiceNow specifications to design scalable test cases, data sets, and test scenarios
- Plan, execute, and document manual and automated testing across ServiceNow modules, workflows, and integrations
- Lead functional, regression, integration, API, and upgrade testing efforts
- Build, enhance, and maintain automation frameworks using ServiceNow ATF, Selenium, and related tools
- Own the defect lifecycle, including logging, tracking, resolution coordination, and root cause analysis
- Define and execute upgrade and patch testing strategies to ensure minimal disruption and high platform stability
- Drive adoption of QA standards, automation best practices, and continuous improvement initiatives
HandsOn ServiceNow Development
- Configure and customizeServiceNow applications using:
- JavaScript and Glide APIs
- Client Scripts, Business Rules, UI Policies, and Catalog Scripts
- Flow Designer and Integration Hub
- Develop, maintain, and support ServiceNow integrations using REST and SOAP APIs
- Manage update sets, migrations, and platform development lifecycle activities
- Collaborate with architects and developers to ensure solutions are testable, scalable, and maintainable
- Contribute to CI/CD pipeline automation supporting reliable deployments and upgrades
Collaboration & Technical Leadership
- Mentor junior engineers and analysts in ServiceNow configuration, automation, and QA best practices
- Partner with product owners, business analysts, and engineering teams to align requirements and delivery expectations
- Participate actively in Agile ceremonies including backlog refinement, sprint planning, standups, and retrospectives
- Collaborate with global and crosstimezone teams in onshore and offshore delivery models
- Advocate for a qualityfirst engineering culture across technical and business stakeholders
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in software testing and/or development
- 4+ years of handson experience on the ServiceNow platform
- Strong expertise with one or more automation tools such as:
- ServiceNow Automated Test Framework (ATF)
- Selenium
- Postman / SOAP UI
- Handson ServiceNow development experience using JavaScript, Glide APIs, Flow Designer, and Integration Hub
- Experience across keyServiceNow modules, including:
- ITSM
- ITOM
- CMDB
- Service Catalog
- CSDM
- Discovery
- Event Management
- Strong understanding of ServiceNow upgrade lifecycle, patch testing, and defect management
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps practices
- Experience using test management and defect tracking tools (e.g., JIRA, HP ALM)
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
Preferred Qualifications & Certifications
- ServiceNow certifications such as:
- Certified System Administrator (CSA)
- Certified Application Developer (CAD)
- Certified Implementation Specialist (CIS - ITSM, Discovery, or Event Management)
- ITIL v3 or ITIL 4 certification
- Experience with enterprisescale ServiceNow implementations
