The purpose of this job is to provide support to the day-to-day operations of the Allen Event Center box office. This is accomplished by greeting customers, answering questions via telephone and in person, accepting payments, issuing tickets and running reports. Other duties may include assisting with ticket changes and filing will call tickets. This position may provide lead direction to other employees.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed and may be required to perform additional, position-specific duties.
  • Provides customer service to the public by assisting customers with identifying best seats available, selling tickets by utilizing a computerized ticketing system, accepting payments and providing information as requested.
  • Completes cashiering duties by receiving, receipting and recording payments.
  • Assists with completion of End of Day sales duties by generating reports and analytics, reconciling and depositing box office revenue, and distributing event activity and data to internal departments and external customers.
  • Assists with training and the assignment of daily tasks of Box Office Attendants.
  • Assists with training Event Center and sport team staff on the ticket system.
  • Assists with escalated customer issues.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience
Work requires broad knowledge in a general professional or technical field. Education and experience that provide the necessary knowledge and skills may also be considered, but a typical way to qualify is by obtaining:

  • High school diploma or equivalent with one (1) year of relevant experience.

Conditions of Employment
  • Candidates should have a dependable means of transportation to and from the workplace.
  • Clear criminal background check and pre-employment drug screen.

Hours/Work Schedule
  • This is a full-time non-exempt position with benefits.
  • This position requires the ability to work a flexible schedule that includes working evenings, nights, weekends and some holidays.
  • Schedule may be modified if department needs arise.

Physical Demands and Work Environment
This position is classified as sedentary and requires the physical ability to perform the essential functions of the role. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals to perform these functions. Typical physical demands include:
  • Primarily sitting, with occasional walking or standing to access files or office areas
  • Occasional bending, reaching, or stretching to retrieve materials or supplies

  • Frequent use of hands and fingers for typing, filing, copying, and operating office equipment
  • Adequate vision and hearing to review documents and effectively communicate with staff and the public
Work is primarily performed in an office setting, with occasional work outside the office during programs, meetings, or special events. The work environment characteristics described herein are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION

  • Basic knowledge of reporting, data tracking, and record-keeping processes

  • Proficiency with computerized ticketing or POS systems and basic computer applications
