About the Role

Culmen International is seeking a Biomedical Equipment Technical Support to support the Naval Medical Research Unit-Dayton (NAMRU-D) Administrative Support Program at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio.



What You'll Do in Your New Role

    Perform routine, scheduled maintenance and non-routine or unscheduled maintenance as required, de-conflicts BMET maintenance with NAMRU-D principal investigators and research assistants to ensure no interruptions to science. (Daily)
  • Determines which items require outside vendors or agencies for maintenance, and arranges for BMET maintenance of equipment from outside vendors or support agencies. (Monthly)
  • Coordinates the purchase of maintenance supplies or services through equipment custodians and vendors and ensures the proper purchasing and/or contracting processes are used as the situation and policies dictate. (Weekly)
  • Ensures all equipment is properly categorized in the Defense Medical Logistics Standard Support (DMLSS) system to enable the database to provide accurate maintenance requirements, life expectancy, and life-cycle cost data (Monthly)
  • Tracking inspections and facilitating repairs. (Daily)
  • Support the development and maintenance of a biosafety infrastructure that supports biomedical safety for both biomedical equipment and biological agents. (Quarterly)
  • Review purchasing packages for new or replacement equipment to provide technical feedback. (Monthly)
  • Monitor manufacturer and/or vendor warranties and maintenance agreements, as entered in the DMLSS maintenance database. (Monthly)
  • Assist with inspection and enter the service documents of all medical maintenance to verify that the services provided conform to the scheduled or requested services, subject to final government approval. (Weekly)
  • Assist with equipment tagging, subject to final government approval. (Monthly)
  • Assist with entering the required data into the DMLSS's Service Contract (SC) module, subject to final government approval.
  • Prepares and submits all required reports and documentation, as necessary, to NAMRU-D's immediate superior in command (ISIC).
  • Assist with equipment acceptance, subject to final government approval. Inspect all newly acquired medical or research equipment to ensure that it meets safety standards, manufacturer's specifications, and contract requirements. Minimum inspection requirements will consist of the following: (Monthly/Quarterly)
  • Confirm that the item is free of physical or functional damage caused by improper shipment and/or faulty manufacture.
  • Confirm that two copies of the operator's and service manuals have been provided.
  • Confirm that the equipment meets all safety requirements (i.e., ground resistance, leakage current, etc.).
  • Verify that all the equipment delivered meets the requirements of the contract.
  • When a new make or model of equipment is received in the command before placing the unit into service, arrange for the equipment manufacturer or vendor to provide familiarization to command equipment operators or provide such familiarization in the absence of manufacturer/vendor-provided familiarization.
  • Assist with the scheduled maintenance program, subject to final government approval.
  • Sign for command package deliveries in the absence of the government-led material management team (biweekly/monthly)


Required Qualifications

  • Active Secret Clearance
  • Experience interfacing with the military medical research enterprise.
  • Must have one of the following certifications: Military BMET Training Certificate of Completion, Medical Equipment Manufacturer's Training Course Certificate of Completion, or) Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician certificate.
  • Prior experience in a military research facility performing biomedical equipment repair services.
  • Familiarity with equipment used for biomedical research
  • Contractor personnel may be required to travel occasionally for collaboration, field research, and presentation of findings
