Responsibilities

The Office Clerk performs various clerical duties to support the department. Duties may include filing, retrieving records or files, responding to telephone calls and other inquiries, data entry, maintaining logs and other records, copying, faxing, and distribution of mail or other materials.

  • Responds to telephone calls, gives information to callers or routes calls to appropriate staff.
  • Processes, handles and distributes incoming and outgoing correspondence to include mail and faxes. Prepares outgoing mail and packages with proper addresses and postage.
  • Sorts and files departmental records in accordance with established procedures.
  • May perform data entry to update automated systems with accurate information.
  • Maintains and organizes forms, supplies, or other materials needed for the department.
  • Performs office support functions and/or provides back up to other positions as needed.
  • Performs errands outside the department as needed.
  • Attends and actively participates in staff meetings.
  • Provides other administrative support to the department as needed to include assistance with special projects.

Qualifications

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • One (1) or Two (2) years of clerical experience and possesses a working knowledge of office practices and procedures.
  • Strong data entry, computer, and software skills preferred.
  • Ability to use standard office equipment to include copiers, fax machines, and other methods of electronic communications.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of customer service skills when responding to questions and other inquiries from internal and external customers.
  • Dependable transportation, valid automobile insurance and a valid driver's license may be required to perform errands outside of the office.

Preferred:

  • Home Health/Hospice claims experience
  • Experience in a fast-paced medical office with strong multi-tasking capability
  • Bank deposit preparation
  • Ability to work at least 3 days per week, onsite
