Sr. Engineering Manager for Agero Administrative Service Corp, Medford, MA: Occupy a key leadership role responsible for guiding an engineering team, driving strategic initiatives, and ensuring the successful delivery of complex projects. The specific duties include: team development and management (recruit, mentor, and develop engineering talent, creating a high-performing team environment for both onshore and offshore team members; implement career development programs and succession planning to support professional growth and retention of top talent; provide leadership in setting clear objectives, performance metrics, and personal development plans for team members), process optimization (establish and refine processes for the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), ensuring efficiency, scalability, and alignment with industry standards; conduct regular reviews of engineering processes, identifying opportunities for improvement and implementing scalable solutions; drive the adoption of best practices in software engineering, including code quality, testing, and deployment processes), technical oversight and innovation (lead development of highly responsive user interface components using ReactJS, CSS, HTML and JQuery; lead and provide architectural guidance on building backend systems using Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Oracle; lead development using AWS cloud services – EC2, Lambda, S3, Amazon RDS; work with TFS and GitHub source control systems; lead teams to build microservices and APIs with RESTful interfaces; lead the evaluation and adoption of emerging technologies and tools, driving innovation and keeping the organization at the forefront of technological advancements; address and resolve high-impact technical issues, ensuring robust and scalable solutions as well as incident management using JIRA Service Desk, Opsgenie, or Pager duty), project and resource management (lead the planning and execution of major engineering projects, including resource allocation, risk management, development item tracking, release planning and estimation; oversee budget management, including hardware and software procurement, ensuring cost-effective solutions and efficient use of resources; use Data Dog and Splunk to analyze performance of applications, services, and other infrastructure; collaborate with senior leadership to define project priorities, timelines, and deliverables, ensuring alignment with business objectives; create and apply metrics to decision making in order to drive prioritization and action), cross-functional collaboration (act as a key liaison between engineering teams and other departments, including product management, QA, operations, and executive leadership; communicate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences, including non-technical stakeholders and senior executives; foster strong relationships with external partners and vendors to support project goals and strategic and business initiatives to execution), and operational excellence and compliance (ensure the highest standards of operational excellence, including system reliability, performance, and security; lead initiatives for security compliance, including managing external audits, regulatory requirements, and information security reviews; monitor and manage development and operational costs, ensuring efficient use of resources and adherence to budget constraints; scale engineering teams in a fast paced, high growth environment). Supervise Principal Software Engineers and Sr. Rails Developers. Required: Bachelor’s Degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or closely related and twelve (12) years of technical engineering experience working with a minimum of two (2) of the following programming languages (C#, Java, JavaScript, or Rails) OR Master’s Degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or closely related and ten (10) years of technical engineering experience working with a minimum of two (2) of the following programming languages (C#, Java, JavaScript, or Rails). Experience must include: 4 years mentoring and managing a software development team with direct reports consisting of onsite and offshore members; 3 years of experience performing estimation, release planning and tracking of development items for Enterprise applications; 5 years of experience in building Web applications in ReactJS, CSS, HTML, and JQuery; 5 years of experience working with RDBMS platforms including one or more of: Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Oracle; 5 years of experience in building microservices and APIs with RESTful interfaces; 3 years development experience with Extensible Markup Language (“XML”), XMLSchema Definition (“XSD”) and Extensible Stylesheet Language Transformations (“XSLT”); 3 years of hands on development using AWS cloud services - EC2, Lambda, S3, Amazon RDS; 5 years experience working with source control systems (GitHub and TFS); 3 years of experience using at least one of the application monitoring tools (Datadog and Splunk) to analyze performance of applications, services and infrastructure; and 3 years of experience using at least one of the following incident management systems: JIRA Service Desk or Pager duty, and showing technical proficiency in handling and resolving production incidents. Demonstrated proficiency with the following also required: object-oriented programming and common design patterns; effectively constructing, interpreting, and applying metrics to decision making; continuous integration, unit and functional testing practices, and continuous deployment systems, On Call and Incident management; and leading and scaling engineering teams in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
