TEKsystems is currently for a Mortgage Underwriter opportunity with a Fortune 100 Financial Institution! * * Job Details: * Schedule: Monday- Friday, 8am-4:30pm (EST) * Work Environment: Fully Remote * Targeted Start Date: May 26th Description: Evaluate and underwrite mortgage loans in accordance with the company, investor, and state and federal requirements to manage risk exposure. Analyze loan documentation, assess credit risk, and make underwriting decisions using established guidelines. Perform semiroutine work with limited supervision, following established procedures while recognizing when exceptions are needed. Participate in basic reviews and collaboration with peers and leadership. Responsibilities: * Analyze borrower income, assets, credit, and loan documentation to determine mortgage eligibility per company and investor guidelines. * Review selfemployed income and complex financial documentation. * Approve, suspend, or decline mortgage loans based on risk assessment and regulatory requirements. * Evaluate property acceptability and collateral sufficiency to ensure marketability. * Analyze exceptions, marginal loans, and adverse actions; recommend alternative mortgage products when applicable. * Prepare adverse action notices and support secondary reviews in compliance with regulatory standards. * Collaborate with loan originators and processors to obtain complete and accurate documentation. * Maintain uptodate knowledge of mortgage products, guidelines, and regulatory changes. * Support training initiatives and assist with mentoring processors, closers, and loan officers. * Perform additional related duties as assigned. Qualification sand Requirements: * 5+ years of experience in mortgage lending * Intermediate knowledge of mortgage/equity loan processing, closing and documentation requirements and regulations * Familiarity with underwriting process and understanding of applicable criteria, guidelines, rules and regulations * Basic database and presentation software skills * Basic organizational, planning and time management skills * Basic research, analytical, and problem solving skills * Basic skill conducting complex personal and business financial analysis * Basic skill exercising initiative and using good judgement to make sound decisions * Basic verbal and written communication skills * Basic word processing and spreadsheet softwareskills * Desired - Basic skill in underwriting self-employed borrowers * Desired - Basic skill conducting complex personal and business financial analysis Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Jacksonville, FL. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $22.02 - $39.93/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
