The HR Manager plays a pivotal role in strengthening the organization's People operations as it continues to scale. This position ensures teams across all locations are supported, compliant, and set up for success. By guiding employee relations, overseeing compliance, and partnering closely with Training, Operations, and leadership, you help create an environment where team members feel valued, leaders are empowered, and day?to?day operations run smoothly. Your ability to balance people needs with business priorities helps the culture and performance grow together.

Mission of the Role
To deliver and enhance People operations that elevate the employee experience, reinforce compliance, build leadership capability, and support consistent, high?performing operations across multiple states.

What Success Looks Like
  • Stronger retention and reduced turnover through reliable HR support and fair, consistent practices.
  • Employee relations issues - including investigations and performance concerns, handled promptly, objectively, and in alignment with legal and organizational standards.
  • Accurate multi?state compliance across CA, NV, and AZ, minimizing risk and ensuring adherence to labor laws.
  • Leaders who feel confident managing performance, coaching their teams, and addressing concerns effectively.
  • HR processes that streamline operations, allowing managers to focus on service, sales, and team development.
  • Effective collaboration with Training, Operations, and Finance to ensure People initiatives support broader organizational goals.

  • Retention & Turnover: Demonstrated improvement in employee retention across locations.
  • Employee Relations Timeliness: Efficient and compliant resolution of ER cases and escalations.
  • Compliance Accuracy: Full adherence to required labor law practices, audits, and documentation.
  • Manager Capability: Growth in leaders' ability to coach, document, and manage performance.
  • HR Efficiency: Faster, more accurate execution of HR processes such as onboarding, benefits, and employee support.
  • AI Utilization: Thoughtful use of AI tools to enhance communication, organization, and workflow while maintaining a humble, team first approach.

Core Responsibilities

HR Operations, Compliance & Employee Relations
  • Provide day-to-day HR support and guidance to HR Specialists and administrative staff.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws across multiple states.
  • Lead and support employee relations matters, including investigations, corrective actions, and documentation.
  • Assist with leave management, ADA/FEHA accommodations, and workers' compensation coordination.
  • Maintain and update HR policies, procedures, and the Employee Handbook.
  • Partner with leaders to reinforce a respectful, positive, and performance?driven culture.
Training & Development Collaboration
Work closely with Training teams to support onboarding, store training, and leadership development programs.
Ensure alignment between HR and Training priorities.
Support the rollout and adoption of training initiatives and LMS tools.
Collaborate with Operations and Training to ensure programs reinforce service excellence and brand consistency.

Talent Acquisition & Total Rewards Support
  • Assist with recruiting for corporate and leadership roles, ensuring a consistent and compliant hiring process.
  • Support benefits administration and serve as a resource for employee questions.
  • Partner with payroll and leadership to ensure accurate, compliant pay practices.
  • Contribute to compensation benchmarking and salary structure updates.
  • Performance Management & Culture Support
  • Coach managers on performance management, documentation, and employee development.
  • Support progressive discipline processes and ensure alignment with policies.
  • Gather insights from exit interviews and engagement feedback to inform retention strategies.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, communication, and continuous improvement.
  • HR Systems, Reporting & Cross?Functional Partnership
  • Maintain accurate HR data and support reporting on turnover, retention, and compliance metrics.
  • Utilize HRIS and LMS platforms to improve efficiency and employee experience.
  • Partner with Operations, Training, and Finance on workforce planning and cross functional initiatives.
  • Provide recommendations to enhance People processes and team effectiveness.
