Description

Our Designers provide the technical capability with creativity and team leadership to complete or assist in the completion of assigned projects from concept to the customer.



At a minimum you'll need:



  • Two-year (2) technical college degree in Mechanical Drafting or related field
  • Five (5) years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks and AutoCAD
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications and ERP/MRP software
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude with the ability to perform basic mathematical calculations and use of measuring instruments
  • Proven ability to conceptualize, formulate design possibilities and coordinate development by the project team under time and financial constraints



Itd be great if you also have:



  • Commitment to effective project leadership, coordination and evaluation, with recommendations for changes required to improve overall results
  • Familiarity with Project Management techniques and tools; Engineering data management system experience preferred
  • Understanding of drafting techniques and familiarity with engineering technology
  • Knowledge of the basic materials and processes used in industry with emphasis on new technology developments



As a Designer, a typical day might include:



  • Creating models and layouts of new components and assemblies.
  • Creating detailed drawings of designs, revising production drawings, making final drawings for manufacturing, checking dimensions of parts, material to be used, bill materials, and tolerance analysis.
  • Preparing engineering change notices and informing concerned departments regarding new and revised prints.
  • Leading or assisting in developing detailed customer requirements and product functional requirements in collaboration with the Product Manager and Design Engineering.
  • Generating and developing effective ideas for new products, product improvements, and cost reductions in order to provide the best possible product for our customers.
  • Conducting accelerated product life cycle tests and evaluating field testing and potential misuse of all products to provide a long and safe service life for the end user.
  • Preparing recommendations with supporting logic for product changes that will improve sales potential and/or reduce cost.
