Senior Data Engineer - Onsite

Genesis10 is currently seeking a Senior Data Engineer - Onsite position with a Major Financial Institution located in Farmers Branch, TX. This is a 12+ month contract to hire opportunity.

This role is for a database engineer who will assist in developing, supporting, and implementing data solutions for multiple applications to meet business objectives. The candidate will perform data requirement analysis, assist in designing and building data service infrastructure, and consult on data migration and transformation to ensure accuracy and security.

Responsibilities:

• Coordinate the collection, normalization and analysis of datasets across multiple data platforms
• Assist in designing and building data service infrastructure across multiple data platforms
• Work with analytics teams to ensure functionality in data systems
• Participate in the development of and implementation of data solutions for multiple applications to ensure scalability and maintainability
• Design and implement process improvements including automation of processes and redesign of data infrastructure
• Own significant components of the database platform (specific schemas/domains, key performance areas, or HA/DR operational ownership) with minimal guidance
• Lead technical workstreams and drive them to closure
• Improve runbooks/automation; contribute to production incident response and prevention

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree
• 5-7 years of experience
• Strong hands-on experience designing and operating high-volume, enterprise OLTP databases supporting mission-critical transactions
• Advanced SQL and performance tuning experience
• MySQL
• Oracle
• Experience with operational best practices: backup/restore validation, patch planning, monitoring/alerting, incident response, and runbooks
• Proven ability to collaborate across engineering, operations, and security with clear, structured communication
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams

Desired skills:

• Exadata experience
• Data Guard experience (HA/DR, role transitions, validation of primary/standby states)
• GoldenGate experience (replication design/operations)
• Understanding of enterprise MySQL deployment/replication patterns (e.g., primary/replica cross-site patterns)
