UCI Graduate Division provides leadership on all graduate education matters. The Graduate Division coordinates with other Graduate Divisions across the UC system to ensure high quality educational experiences and promotion of graduate education system and state-wide.


Your Role on the Team

The Graduate Division's Assistant Dean of Academic and Student Affairs is a leadership role that oversees centralized student services functions for graduate students and postdoctoral scholars. The Assistant Dean plays a critical role in shaping and delivering high-quality student services that support the academic success and professional growth of the graduate community. This role is responsible for determining the long- and short-term goals and objectives of the graduate student services operations. The Assistant Dean translates divisional priorities into operational plans and service delivery strategies for student services programs. This role directs subordinate supervisors and managers and has organization-wide impact for a variety of functions in graduate student recruitment, admissions, enrolled student services, career counseling, professional development, and graduate advising. Evaluates the effectiveness of student services operations and implements improvements to enhance service quality and student outcomes. Supports divisional strategic initiatives by translating goals into actionable student services programs.

The pay range for this recruitment is $108,100- $156,500 (Annual).

What It Takes to be Successful

Required:

  • Advanced knowledge of advising and counseling techniques.
  • Skills in monitoring / assessing people, processes or services, to make improvements.
  • Skills in project management, social perceptiveness to be aware of others' reactions and understanding why they react as they do.
  • Ability in problem identification, reasoning, ability to develop original ideas to solve problems, persuade others, and lead.
  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
  • 7-9 years' related experience

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of common University-specific computer application programs and knowledge of University and departmental principles and procedures involved in risk assessment and evaluating risks as to likelihood and consequences.

Special Conditions:

  • May need to work some nights/weekends for special projects and/or events.
