Inside the Role

The IT Product & Technology Lead - Salesforce is accountable for the end-to-end ownership of the Salesforce platform and assigned Salesforce applications across Daimler Truck Financial Services (DTFS). This role combines strategic platform ownership, technical leadership, and application lifecycle accountability, ensuring the Salesforce ecosystem is stable, secure, scalable, and aligned with business strategy.

Acting as Platform Owner, the role defines and governs platform architecture, standards, security, and technical roadmap. Acting as Application Owner, the role ensures individual Salesforce applications deliver business value throughout their lifecycle-from ideation and design through delivery, operations, and continuous improvement.

This position serves as the key IT liaison between business product owners, development teams, vendors, Information Security, Enterprise Architecture, and Operations, leading delivery in an agile environment while maintaining strong governance and platform health.

What You Drive at DTFS

Platform Owner

  • Own the overall Salesforce platform strategy, architecture, and technical roadmap in alignment with enterprise standards.

  • Define and enforce platform governance, design principles, and development standards to balance innovation and stability.

  • Act as the technical authority on Salesforce architecture, integrations, data model, and customization approach (declarative vs. programmatic).

  • Manage platform health KPIs, including customization levels, platform stability, uptime, performance, and scalability.

  • Lead technical backlog prioritization and capacity planning in collaboration with application owners and development teams.

  • Oversee release management, environment strategy, CI/CD alignment, and deployment quality.

  • Ensure compliance with Information Security, DevSecOps, regulatory requirements, and audit controls.

  • Govern Salesforce administration, including security models, role hierarchy, profiles, permission sets, and org configuration.

  • Own Salesforce licensing strategy, usage optimization, and cost management.

  • Provide Level-2 (L2) support oversight and drive root-cause analysis for recurring incidents.

  • Establish and contribute to Platform Knowledge Communities (PKC) to promote best practices, learning, and platform maturity.

Application Owner (IT)

  • Own the full lifecycle of assigned Salesforce applications, from intake and roadmap definition through delivery and operations.

  • Partner with Business Product Owners to translate business strategy into application roadmaps and prioritized backlogs.

  • Ensure applications meet functional, non-functional, and regulatory requirements.

  • Lead requirement definition, technical design alignment, and delivery planning.

  • Monitor application KPIs, including incident volume, user satisfaction, budget adherence, and ROI.

  • Drive continuous improvement, modernization, and technical debt reduction initiatives.

  • Ensure applications are supported with appropriate documentation, support models, and operational readiness.

  • Participate actively in Agile ceremonies (PI planning, sprint planning, reviews, retrospectives).

  • Act as escalation point for application-related risks, issues, and dependencies.

Project & Delivery Leadership

  • Lead strategic Salesforce initiatives and projects, from concept through implementation.

  • Manage delivery using Agile/Scrum methodologies, including sprint planning and program increment (PI) planning.

  • Coordinate internal teams and external vendors to ensure on-time, on-budget, high-quality delivery.

  • Develop project proposals, delivery approaches, estimates, and business cases.

  • Evaluate new Salesforce features and complementary technologies; lead proofs of concept (POCs) where appropriate.

Stakeholder & Vendor Management

  • Serve as the primary IT contact for Salesforce-related initiatives.

  • Collaborate closely with:

    • Business Product Owners and stakeholders

    • Enterprise Architecture and Information Security

    • Infrastructure and IT Operations

    • External Salesforce partners and vendors

  • Manage vendor performance, deliverables, and adherence to DTFS standards.

Knowledge You Should Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience.

  • 5+ years of experience in Information Technology with strong exposure to application development and delivery.

  • Hands-on experience with the Salesforce Platform, ideally including Service Cloud, Experience Cloud and Auto Cloud (Marketing Cloud a plus).

  • Proven experience leading Agile delivery teams and managing technical backlogs.

  • Experience with vendor management and multi-team coordination.

  • Strong understanding of web architectures, integrations (APIs), and cloud platforms.

  • Strategic and systems thinking

  • Strong technical leadership and architectural judgment

  • Excellent stakeholder communication and facilitation

  • Analytical problem-solving and decision-making

  • Ability to balance innovation, speed, and operational stability

Exceptional Candidates Might Have

  • Salesforce certifications (Administrator, Platform App Builder, or Developer).

  • Experience in financial services or regulated environments.

  • Familiarity with DevSecOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.

  • Experience acting as Platform Owner, Application Owner, or Technical Product Owner.
