Job Description

JOB SUMMARY


The Sales Intern - Retail Sales Support role is designed to provide hands-on experience within the equipment sales process by supporting and shadowing Retail Sales Representatives (RSRs). This position will assist with customer engagement, lead qualification, CRM management, and day-to-day sales activities while gaining exposure to Fabick Cat's products, services, and customer base.


The intern will work closely with the entire sales team to learn how retail leads are managed, how customer relationships are developed, and how sales opportunities are identified and supported.



ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES



Sales Support & Customer Engagement



  • Assist and support the entire sales team. RSM, OM, TM's, Paving Specialists, CDI, etc. in contacting customers via phone and email to support account outreach
  • Help gather and update customer information in CRM (Saleslink)
  • Participate in lead qualification efforts and observe how opportunities are routed or pursued
  • Shadow customer interactions to learn relationship-building techniques


CRM & Administrative Support



  • Maintain and update customer records, notes, and activities in CRM
  • Assist with tracking leads, follow-ups, and campaign results
  • Support documentation of sales activities and pipeline updates


Retail & Branch Support



  • Assist with walk-in retail activity alongside RSRs and branch personnel
  • Help coordinate basic customer needs and direct inquiries appropriately


Marketing & Team Collaboration



  • Support marketing campaigns and promotional outreach efforts
  • Collaborate with sales and marketing teams on special projects
  • Attend team meetings, ride-alongs, and training sessions


LEARNING OBJECTIVES



  • Understand the retail sales lifecycle from lead generation to closing
  • Gain exposure to multiple industries (construction, agriculture, power systems, etc.)
  • Develop communication, sales, and customer service skills
  • Learn CRM tools and sales tracking processes
  • Build foundational knowledge of equipment, parts, and service solutions

Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS



Education:



  • Currently pursuing an Associate or Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Sales, or related field


Experience:



  • Previous customer service, retail, or sales experience preferred but not required


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:



  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Willingness to learn and take initiative
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
  • Interest in sales, equipment, or construction-related industries
  • Ability to work in a team environment


TRAVEL



  • Occasional local travel or ride-alongs with RSRs as needed


PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORKING CONDITIONS



  • Combination of office, retail, and occasional field exposure
  • May involve sitting, standing, and light lifting (up to 25 lbs)
  • Exposure to shop/yard environments with appropriate safety measures
