POSITION OVERVIEW As our Material Handler, this individual will report to our Group Lead and will have responsibility for supplying our production areas with the materials required to manufacture ELSCO's products in a Lean manufacturing environment. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: * Responsible for the loading and unloading materials in ELSCO's warehouse. * Safely utilizes the forklift/pallet jack/hand trucks to expediently move materials throughout the production process. * Receives shipments, adjusts receiving information in the ERP system, and ensures the accuracy of materials flow between the warehouse production floor(s). * Effectively ensures availability of the required quantity of parts to support production and material planning targets as they align to company goals; performs and tracks daily cycle count on finished goods. * Uses First In, First Out methodologies by ensuring that the oldest inventory is used or shipped first, reducing waste and maintaining inventory accuracy. * Picks parts to create kits and deliver them to shipping. * Minimizes operator downtime by stocking production areas, removes waste/finished goods, and assists with rapid changeovers. * Notify facilities when warehouse equipment needs maintenance or repair. * Looks for ways to continuously improve our warehousing processes and communicates these ideas to the Production Group Lead. * Responsible for maintaining floor stock and Kanban cards. * Maintains a safe, clean, and orderly warehouse. * Performs other duties as requested, directed or assigned. JOB QUALIFICIATIONS & REQUIREMENTS Minimum Background and Skills Required: * H.S. Diploma or Equivalent. * 3+ years of experience supporting manufacturing operations in a material handling capacity. * A minimum of 1 to 2 years' experience operating fork lift equipment, and pallet jacks preferably in a facility with push back racking. * Intermediate knowledge of ERP systems, proven experience entering accurate data into ERP systems manually and adjusting inventory. * Familiarity with shipping or warehouse management software. * Possess a high degree of accuracy and strong data entry skills. * Stress tolerant, able to balance a multitude of priorities at one time. * Takes direction and operates independently to complete daily tasks. * Ability to use hand and power tools. * Ability to become forklift certified and to train others in proper usage of our forklift equipment. Additional Background and Skills Preferred: * Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Teams and Outlook. * Basic understanding of Lean manufacturing principles. * Forklift certified. * Understanding of OSHAs Hazardous Communication Standards and understands how to read and interpret safety data sheets. * Technical or vocational education. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS * This position is contract to hire. * Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. on a regular basis. * Frequent standing. * Ability to walk around the production facility. * Verbally communicates with other team members regularly throughout the day, and on occasion carriers in-person and over the phone. * Visually inspects inbound materials. * Actively listens to managers, and team members. * Climbs ladders on occasion.
