Our facility in Billerica, Massachusetts,is located in the metropolitan Boston area and specializes in the designand manufacturing of advanced photonics products based on MEMS and other micro-scale optical devices. Our unique technology enables the highest system performance in the most compact and cost-effective formats in a variety of applications.

The Excelitas HIDL Systems Engineering team is seeking a Sr. PCB Designer for Analytical and High Voltage product development.

The Excelitas HIDL Systems division designs and builds power conversion products and flash lighting products for custom requirements in the medical, semiconductor, industrial, security inspection and research equipment markets. Our engineering projects range in scope from concept-through-production of new systems to minor modifications of existing products. This position will be reported directly to the Engineering Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience required;


  • Minimum 5 years of experience in designing mixed signal through hole and SMT circuit boards;
  • Experience using PADS design software preferred;
  • Understand and implement component IC application notes design and layout considerations;
  • Experience designing circuit boards to meet high voltage and EMI requirements;
  • Proficient in providing support documentation necessary for contract vendors to; fabricate and build circuit boards and assemblies. AutoCad experience is helpful;
  • Experience researching component specifications and selecting viable candidates that meet design requirements;
  • Ability to assemble, rework and troubleshoot prototype circuit board assemblies a plus;
  • Experienced using Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel and Power Point for use in documentation generation and summary presentations.



RESPONSIBILITIES:




  • Collaborate with Electrical and Mechanical Engineering team members to design circuit board assemblies that meet design requirements;
  • Design PCBs to meet CE, TUV UL, or other appropriate agency requirements;
  • Develop formal design documentation including schematics, board layout and assembly drawings;
  • Generate documentation needed to support procurement and fabrication of circuit boards and assemblies;
  • Develop assembly diagrams or work instructions as needed to support prototyping efforts that may also form the foundation for production documentation;
  • Manage component database through generation of new components and maintenance as required;
  • Creatively solve problems with new product designs to improve manufacturability, reliability, or specification compliance;
  • Lead formal design reviews regarding new and proposed circuit board designs;
  • Build and/or modify through-hole or surface mount PCB assemblies as required;
  • Assist in prototyping efforts for new product designs;
  • Write Engineering Change Orders, Field Repair Bulletins and Temporary Deviation Authorizations as required in support of development programs.



The salary range for this position is $93,500 tp $124,000

This position requires the use of information which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR)
