Position Title: Phlebotomist I

Monday-Friday, 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM

Position Summary:
The primary function of a Phlebotomist is to perform assigned duties including specimen collection, troubleshooting, training, and recommending workflow improvements within a Patient Service Center (PSC) setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge samples, and record maintenance data
- Collect and store specimens following established procedures
- Clearly and courteously explain venipuncture and specimen collection processes (blood, urine, fecal, etc.)
- Demonstrate proficiency with straight and butterfly needles, including difficult draws
- Understand and follow physicians' orders accurately
- Match laboratory requisition forms with specimen tubes
- Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required
- Verify test requisitions or labels against orders for accuracy
- Package specimens for transport and maintain specimen integrity
- Store specimens at required temperatures using proper containers
- Follow protocol-specific procedures for specimen handling and transport
- Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations
- Attend required training sessions
- Handle incoming calls and assist with lab-related inquiries
- Perform additional duties such as fingerprinting and OTS as required
- Work efficiently in a high-volume environment and support workflow improvements
Qualifications & Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Minimum 6 months of venipuncture experience required; 1 year preferred in a fast-paced lab, hospital, or PSC setting
- Experience performing blood draws on all age groups (pediatric to geriatric)
- Proficiency in using straight and butterfly needles
- Experience with specimen processing (centrifuging, labeling, handling)
- Comfortable handling difficult draws (hard sticks)
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
Working Conditions & Physical Demands:
- Majority of the shift involves standing (breaks provided)
- Medium-sized Patient Service Center environment
- Work alongside a team with periods of independent work
- Fast-paced setting with approximately 90+ patients per day
- Initial training includes orientation and onsite training (first 2 weeks)

- Full-time: 40 hours/week
- No travel required
