About the Role

As an Ancillary Sales Representative, you'll grow Steelcase's share in the local contract furniture market with a focus on ancillary products from our portfolio of design brands. You'll serve as a brand ambassador and product expert, leading education efforts and responding to project-specific opportunities with tailored solutions, pricing, and specification support. This is a field-based role that requires a strategic mindset, excellent communication skills, and a passion for business development.

Brand Portfolio & Market Focus

In this role, you will champion growth across a portfolio of global design brands. Your primary focus will be driving specification and market expansion for Coalesse, a leading global ancillary brand known for its sophisticated, high performance workplace solutions. You will also represent Coalesse's collective of admired partners-including Viccarbe, Moooi, Tom Dixon, Flos, and Extremis-each bringing a unique design perspective and international reputation.

Complementing this portfolio is the rapidly expanding West Elm by Steelcase collection, one of the fastest growing lifestyle inspired workplace lines in the industry. Together, these brands form one of the most comprehensive, scalable, and design forward ancillary offerings available today, giving you a powerful platform to build relationships, influence specifications, and drive revenue growth across the region.

Who We're Looking For

We're seeking a driven sales professional with a proven ability to develop new business, influence specifications, and build strong relationships with A&D firms and Steelcase and non-Steelcase dealer partners. You bring confidence, creativity, and a consultative approach to every interaction.

Primary Responsibilities

  • -Develop and execute a strategic ancillary plan for A&D firms and dealer partners to drive brand preference and influence specifications across key projects.

  • -Prospect new or dormant customers and create an action plan for ancillary sales growth to meet sales targets.

  • -Manage projects from identification through specification to completion, including product selection, pricing, samples, and order tracking.

  • -Build and maintain strong, consultative relationships with designers and dealers to identify and pursue new business opportunities.

  • -Serve as the primary resource for ancillary product knowledge, delivering presentations and support to ensure brand success.

  • -Represent brands at industry events, trade shows, and networking functions.

Minimum Qualifications

  • -5+ years of experience in B2B sales, preferably in contract furniture, interior design, or related industries.

  • -Proven success in new business development and working in a variable compensation model.

  • -Strong understanding of ancillary furniture solutions, design process, and competitive landscape.

  • -Proficiency in CRM tools (Salesforce) and Microsoft Office.

  • -Ability to travel approximately 20% for client engagement and industry events.

  • -Must be located or willing to relocate to Chicago.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • -Strong influencing and presentation skills.

  • -Existing relationships within the A&D community.

  • -Experience working at a global scale or with multiple design brands.

  • -Bachelor's degree in Business, Interior Design, or a related field preferred.

Compensation: This role pays a base salary in the range of $80,000-$100,000 Base + 1% commission.
