Responsibilities
Peraton is seeking an Enterprise Architect to define and drive the overarching technology strategy, standards, and architectural vision for the BNATCS program, responsible for enterprise architecture baselines, interface control documents, system integration planning, and governance board leadership. You will serve as the principal authority on enterprise-level design decisions, guiding solution architects, engineering teams, and program leadership toward a unified, future-ready technology landscape. This postion will be located in Herndon, VA. Key Responsibilities
Define and maintain the enterprise architecture vision, including system, data, application, and technology reference architectures aligned with mission objectives
- Develop and govern architectural standards, principles, and patterns that ensure consistency, interoperability, and reuse across programs and systems
- Lead technology roadmap development, identifying strategic investments, capability gaps, and modernization opportunities across the enterprise portfolio
- Evaluate and rationalize the application and technology portfolio, recommending consolidation, modernization, or retirement decisions based on business value and technical fitness
- Establish and chair architecture review boards (ARBs) to evaluate proposed solutions, enforce standards, and adjudicate design trade-offs
- Ensure alignment with federal frameworks including NIST, FedRAMP, RMF, Zero Trust Architecture, and agency-specific policies
- Drive adoption of enterprise integration patterns - APIs, event-driven architectures, shared data services - to reduce duplication and improve data flow across systems
- Collaborate with cybersecurity, cloud, infrastructure, and software engineering teams to ensure architectural coherence across all technical domains
- Translate enterprise architecture strategy into clear, actionable guidance for executive stakeholders, program managers, and technical teams
- Assess emerging technologies - cloud-native platforms, AI/ML, automation, edge computing - and provide recommendations on strategic adoption
- Develop and maintain architecture artifacts using industry-standard frameworks such as DoDAF, DoDAF, UAF or similar frameworks
- Mentor and guide solution architects and engineering leads to ensure architectural intent is preserved through design and implementation
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- 15+ years of experience in enterprise architecture, systems engineering, or IT strategy within large-scale organizations
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field (or 4 additional years of relevant experience in lieu of degree)
- Demonstrated experience defining and governing enterprise-wide architectural standards across complex, multi-system environments
- Proficiency in SysML and CAMEO/MagicDraw modeling tools
- Deep knowledge of enterprise architecture frameworks such as DoDAF, UAF, or equivalent
- Experience with Interface Control Document (ICD) development and management
- Strong understanding of hybrid and multi-cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GovCloud) and their role within broader enterprise architecture
- Proven expertise in application portfolio rationalization, technology roadmapping, and capability-based planning
- Solid grounding in FedRAMP, RMF, NIST 800-53, Zero Trust Architecture, and federal IT governance
- Experience supporting federal or DoD programs with complex, heterogeneous technology landscapes
- Background in mission-critical or safety-critical systems where architectural decisions carry significant operational risk
- ITIL certification and experience aligning architecture governance with ITSM processes
- Exceptional ability to communicate complex technical strategies to executive, non-technical, and cross-functional audiences
- Proven track record of leading and influencing without direct authority across engineering, security, and operations teams
- Public Trust Clearance - Ability to Obtain and Maintain
Preferred Qualifications
- DoDAF Framework or UAF certification
- Knowledge of FAA NAS systems or equivalent large-scale critical infrastructure
- Experience with real-time systems, low-latency architectures, and edge computing within an enterprise context
- Background in network architecture (SD-WAN, secure transport) and its integration into enterprise design
- Experience with AIOps, observability platforms, and enterprise-scale monitoring strategies
- Familiarity with DevSecOps pipelines, infrastructure-as-code, and platform engineering as enterprise capabilities
- Relevant certifications such as AWS Solutions Architect Professional, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, CISSP, or PMP

Target Salary Range
$135,000 - $216,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual's experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
